Wiki Loves Folklore 2023 in Pakistan

Q. Indicate if it is a local, international, or regional proposal and if it involves several countries? (optional)

Local

Q2. If you have answered regional or international, please write the country names and any other information that is useful for understanding your proposal.

R. If you would like, please share any websites or social media accounts that your group or organization has.

1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

To bring new users to the Wikipedia and it's sister projects and to make awareness about Wikipedia, Commons Wikimedia and the importance of WikiLoves Folklore in Pakistan and encouraging the people to document their culture and cultural activities on Wikimedia commons. This will be a contest for media (Audio , short video and pictures) to show case the folklore culture across the country.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

This proposal is very important because it's focused on the Folklore of Pakistan, which is less documented on Wikipedia and it's sister projects. If this proposal is implemented, people will be positively affected and encouraged to document their Folklore, Folk culture and other cultural activities on Wikimedia commons including Wikipedia and unfortunately there have never been such activities in Pakistan to encourage people to participate in the Wikipedia and Wikimedia commons contests and I hope this proposal will have wider impact on the Pakistan and it's people.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

Strategy is to Build capacity of the community members by organizing in-person training sessions for this event to encourage and teach the masses about Wikimedia movement cause and to bring new users, editors. I chooseed these activities because people really don't know much about Wikipedia and it's sister projects and they really needs such training sessions and awareness workshop to get familiar with the Wikimedia movement especially Wikipedia and it's sister projects and more importantly for the WikiLoves Folklore and I assume that by doing these activities under this strategy the trained group of participants will contribute to the Wikimedia movement. I did research and learned that people in Pakistan are really unaware about Wikipedia, how to contribute and why it's important and I'm really eager to educate others to come forward and contribute to Wikipedia, and it's sister projects and especially for this event which is WikiLoves Folklore 2023 and encourage them by applying these strategies supported by these activities to make their contributions to Wikipedia and it's sister projects.

4. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign or event? If so, please select the relevant campaign below. If so, please select all the relevant campaigns from the list below. If "other", please state which.
