Wiki Loves Monuments

6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

We hope to make the second-time Wiki Loves Monuments campaign in Uzbekistan to grow numbers of photographs of cultural heritage monuments located in the country. Uzbekistan has plenty of culture heritage monuments and number of them is considered as UNESCO World Heritage cites, but there's not so much of photographs of those objects at Wikimedia Commons. Much less of existing photos are quality ones. We want to stick to the largest photo contest in the world to solve this lack at least partially.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.
  1. Preparation to the competition that includes creating lists of monuments at some Wikimedia project (Ru-Wikivoyage, Metawiki, Uz-Wikipedia or Commons), making al necessary pages (main, rules etc.) on 4 languages that are common in Uzbekistan (Uzbek, Karakalpak, Russian and English) and creating a campaign for uploadWizard. This is going already and will be finished before October 1.
  2. Maintaining the uploading campaign that is planned to October 1—31. That includes answering to a participants' questions, creating needed categories for media etc.
  3. Jurying that will be held after the end of upload campaign and will end before November 30.

We're targeting for basically everyone, who can take and upload pictures. We'll use our established contacts with local press and media to promote participation.

We're not working in direct contact with participants (including minors) until the awarding of winners, where young winners should be with their legal representative or parent. All contacts with them are made under Law of Republic of Uzbekistan №139.

This idea was discussed in-between active members of user group. The contest itself will be promoted on-wiki through publishing CentralNotice banner in Uzbek, Karakalpak, Russian and English for any users from Uzbekistan.

Since this contest will be held in Uzbekistan for a second time, we're planning to identify underrepresented topics regarding cultural heritage to cover these gaps in the next year by offering special nominations.
