The College of Medical Sciences GSU is widely recognized for its role in educating a diverse cohort of students across a range of disciplines. While the college has been proactive in offering valuable resources such as guidance, awareness programs, conferences, and annual health weeks, there remains a notable gap in the utilization of Wikipedia within the institution. This initiative aims to make the following changes:

1. The primary objective of this project is to ignite a genuine interest in Wikipedia and its associated projects within the academic community of the college. By fostering a culture of engagement with Wikimedia platforms, this project aims to empower students and faculty members to become active contributors to this vast repository of knowledge.
2. In order to equip aspiring editors with the necessary skills and knowledge, the project will focus on organizing comprehensive training sessions for experienced editors. These sessions will also serve as a platform to guide participants through potential challenges they might encounter in their editing journey.
3. Beyond individual contributions, this initiative has a broader vision of advancing sustainable development goals set forth by the Wikimedia Foundation. By encouraging consistent and meaningful engagement with Wikipedia and its sister projects, this project aims to foster a culture of ongoing knowledge dissemination and sharing.
7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

This project is designed to encompass a total of four sessions. In collaboration with the GSUMSA Emerging Leaders student union, there is full awareness of and support for this campaign.

Raising Awareness: The campaign will be conducted on the college premises, elucidating the roles and objectives of contributing to Wikipedia.

Online Sessions: These sessions will focus on introducing successful participants to Wikimedia and its various projects. They will also familiarize participants with tasks like creating accounts and making minor edits such as adding references and citations. The sessions will be live-streamed via Zoom, and the link can be accessed at https://us05web.zoom.us/j/4374208862?pwd=pkTostpICBi7PocyVCwBHi01PdW2OD.1

Second Online Session: This session aims to equip editors with comprehensive knowledge on how to enhance their contributions on Wikipedia, as well as address any challenges they encounter during their editing process.

First Physical Session: This session seeks to directly engage with new editors, providing practical guidance on enhancing their edits on Wikipedia. Following this session, there will be a two-week edit-a-thon to maintain editor activity.

Second Physical Session: This session will involve interacting with every editor and conducting individual performance reviews.

At the end of the final session, each editor will receive a certificate of participation in the Wikipedia Awareness in Medical College GSU. Additionally, editors with the highest contributions will be recognized and awarded prizes.
