In the northeastern part of the country, where the majority of states are already familiar with Wikipedia, Taraba State stands as the second-largest state in the region with a population exceeding 3 million, according to the 2006 Nigeria Census. Despite hosting prominent educational institutions, including Taraba State University Jalingo, Kwararrafa State University Wukari, Federal University Wukari, and various colleges and polytechnics, there exists a conspicuous absence of active Wikipedia editors and initiatives promoting the platform within Taraba State. This deficiency in representation poses a hindrance to accurately portraying the state's history, culture, institutions, and achievements on a global scale. The key challenges and issues this proposal seeks to address include limited awareness of Wikimedia projects, restricted access to training and resources for potential editors, and the absence of region-specific content on Wikipedia related to Taraba State. The underrepresentation from the state hampers the accurate portrayal of its history, culture, institutions, and achievements on a global scale. Additionally, due to my engagement with Wikimedia, I have encountered numerous inquiries from people, including graduates and established writers, asking about what Wikimedia actually is. Therefore, I am determined to address this issue by providing training to these individuals. As a response to these challenges, this proposal primarily aims to establish a robust Wikimedia training and awareness initiative within the state. The goal is to address the lack of representation on Wikimedia platforms and enhance the involvement of Taraba State residents in contributing to Wikipedia and related projects. By doing so, the proposal seeks to narrow the information gap, promote local knowledge, and ensure that Taraba State's rich cultural heritage and educational accomplishments are accurately and comprehensively represented on Wikimedia platforms. To achieve this transformation, the project intends to adopt a multifaceted approach and provide solutions to the identified problems. This includes organizing training sessions in the state to educate participants about Wikimedia projects, encourage them to become editors, and equip them with the necessary skills to contribute effectively. Collaboration with existing intellectual clubs, associations, and educational institutions will be instrumental in raising awareness and nurturing a community of Wikipedia contributors. Furthermore, the proposal aims to establish partnerships with local government bodies, educational institutions, and cultural organizations. These partnerships will offer support, resources, and platforms for the initiative to thrive. By engaging academia, cultural leaders, and government representatives, the proposal seeks to create a sustainable environment for Wikimedia activities in Taraba State. In summary, the proposal focuses on the broader change it aims to bring about –the enhanced representation of Taraba State on Wikimedia platforms–and adopts strategic approaches that are informed by the identified challenges and opportunities. These approaches are underpinned by the goal of empowering and engaging the local community to actively contribute to Wikipedia and related projects.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.
