6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

Challenge/Problems: Currently all the members work individually, while the main communications space is Telegram group (125 people). There are minor conflicts regarding tasks and the vision in terms of what is important for the community and our priorities. Trying to solve misunderstandings among the participants online has proven to be less productive. Our community is growing, but we did not have the chance to come up or learn collectively how to deal and solve various conflicts. In addition, the local community members have not been able to meet in a group since the 2012 gathering in Almaty.

Change we want: With this conference we want to create an offline, safe space for Kazakh speaking Wikimedians to meet and connect with each other and participate in facilitated discussions about our vision, plans, challenges and priorities. We want the community members to feel energized by connecting with each other. Live discussions always will spark creative ideas to work together.

Approach: Creating the offline space for everyone in the community, organizing lectures or workshops, raising awareness about various Wikimedia projects, including making connections with the global strategy and grants. Practically speaking, we aim to create a plan for the community to move further. As part of the plan of the conference, we plan to organize capacity building activities and a trip to Burabay National Park.

This meeting is an attempt to decrease the tensions or conflicts between community members by meeting each other in-person and exchange ideas during facilitated conversations. The meeting is expected to improve the communication between the local community members and help us build a stronger community.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found.
