Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) is the best university of technology in Nigeria located in the populous city of Akure with over 20,000-24,000 students in the school.
The focus of the project include the following:
- 1. Acceptability of Wikipedia and it's sister project by students and staffs in FUTA.
- 2. Encourage contribution of students and staffs to the wikimedia community.
- 3. establishment of Wikimedia Fan Club in Federal University of Akure (FUTA).
ACCEPTABILITY OF WIKIPEDIA AND IT'S SISTER PROJECTS BY STUDENTS AND STAFFS OF FUTA
Due to the assesibility of Wikipedia to editing by everyone, the university community believe wikipedia is prone to flaws and not reliable hence the contents can't be used for researches however we will educate and show them how the community has protected the articles from vandalism making it safe and available to editing only by qualified editors through online and physical trainings.
ENCOURAGE THE CONTRIBUTION OF STAFFS AND STUDENTS TO THE WIKIMEDIA COMMUNITY
Since many believe wikimedia projects are done by professionals however my team and I planned to train the Students and lecturers on how to edit wikimedia contents and make use of the community to carry out research purposes.
ESTABLISHMENT OF WIKIMEDIA FAN CLUB IN FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF AKURE (FUTA)
After the repeated training of the students and staffs, In order to ensure the continuity of subsequent projects.There is need to establish a platform where Communication will be maintained and issues relating to editing of contents will be addressed.

Documenting articles related to the university as well as uploading images on the wikimedia common

- 3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?
My Team and I plan to create awareness about wikimedia on campus by sharing posters and stickers as well as seeking permission from the authorities so as to recruit participants.
There are 6 steps we plan to take:
- 1. Awareness creation: My Team and I will make our presence known in the campus including the academic officers, lecture halls by creating awareness about wikipedia and sister Projects. We plan to carry out the awareness program by handing out handbills and fliers containing information about wikimedia Community . We plan to recruit new editors and existing wikimedia editors in FUTA.
- 2. 1st Virtual Onboarding Training; This is targeted at educating the new editors recruited about how wikimedia works. This is will include creation of account and minor editing through zoom sessions with the link available for others. Existing editors will also be encouraged and exposed to new knowledge.
- 3. Practical sessions: This will involve interaction with participants recruited. This will involve two physical sessions. The first one will introduce the participants to editing while the 2nd practical session will answer questions and solve problems encountered while editing.
- 4. Second Virtual training: This training will be done to confirm and ascertain the editors can now edit and to test their capacity.
- 5. Edit-a-thon: There will be 3 weeks of editing of articles on Wikipedia whereby the participants will get certificate of participation as well too editors will get...

Yes, Tesleemah is an experienced wikimedia project editor. she is the project lead abd indigene of the state the host university ( Federal University of Akure). She has participated in different wikimedia projects. She is the 6th Top Editor of wikiExploreNigeria projects. The 2nd highest editor of Wikipedia Awareness and Training in Gombe edit-a-thon, the 2nd runner-up of Wikiproject Public Domain Contest in Nigeria and the first prize winner of Wikipedia Nigeria Cuisine Project.
Ibjaja055 is a an experienced Wikimedia projects editor. He has participated in different Wikimedia projects. He is the 4th highest contributor during the third edition of the African Librarians Week held from 22-29 May 2022. The First Prize Winner of Wikipedia Awareness and Training in Gombe edit-a-thon, first Prize Winner of WikiProject Public Domain Contest in Nigeria and First Prize Winner of Wikipedia Awareness for Librarians at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria edit-a-thon. He is one of the Online Facilitator for the project
Taoheedah has also participated in different wikimedia projects. She is one of the top contributor to Explore Nigeria Project, WikiLagos, Wiki Awareness in Gombe, WikiGlam Lagos , Nigeria Cuisine project. She also participated in Wiki LIS Awareness, Afrosport Nigeria, Afrocreatives, Wiki Pages Wanted Photo (WPWP) Project and De-Stub Yoruba Wikipedia Articles Contest. She is one of the offline facilitator for the project.
Abdullahalaba has contributed to various Wikimedia projects as well, ranging from Wiki Human Right,Afro sports, Wikilibarians and Afro creatives. He was the 4th top editor for Wikilagos 2022 and the weekly top editor for LasginfOfficers4wiki. He will also facilitate offline and be in charge of logistics arrangements.
Taofeeq Abdulkareem has participated in various Wikimedia projects as well. He participated in Afrocreatives Wikiproject, Nigeria Cuisine, Wiki Glam awareness for librarians in Lagos State, African Games and sports writing contest, wikipedia awareness for librarians at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Wikihuman rights 2022, Wikilagos Nigeria ministries and parastatals cleanup, Wikifor human rights 2021, Art & Feminism at University of Ilorin where he was one of the top 10 editors and he is the top editor for Wiki loves SDGs Nigeria Contest.

The target of the project are all members of the University since it is a learning community , we plan to recruit participants by communicating with the Deans, Faculty Officers, Student Union, Class representatives and Course representatives.
My team and I will supervise the new editors during the 3 week edit-a-thon to prevent vandalism by supplying them with necessary knowledge pertaining to contributing to wikipedia and its sister Projects. At the end of the project, there will be expansion of articles on Wikipedia, Wikidata items and more images will be uploaded on Wikimedia Common which will be available for Pages Wanting Photos.
The participants will be followed by creation of WhatsApp platform titled 'Wikimedian Fan Club in FUTA' , Issues related to editing on Wikipedia will be discussed. Also other vital information and more will be passed on the platform.

We will ensure no form of harassment is expressed by our participants . We will ensure special tag are given to the facilitators such that any form of harassment can be reported. Since it is a University Community, we will ensure underage do not attend the program except with the guidance of a parent or legal guardians

School authorities : we are going to seek permission from the school so as to make use of lecture halls, park and other places for the awareness creation.
FUTA library: we will seek the consent of the librarian to introduce us to public domain collections in the school
Student Union : We will work with the student Union in order to help with mobilization, publicity through their social media pages and facilitate securing a space for the training.
