Fulfulde Wikimedians is an unrecognized group of Wikimedia volunteers who work on several wiki projects related to Fulfulde culture and language across the world. It is founded by active contributors of Fulfulde speaking community of Wikimedia projects. It is aims to increase the number of quality contents in Fulfulde. Fulfulde Wikimedia is a user group that is operating all over Nigeria and some other West African countries with large number of editors, but the current situation of Fulfulde Wikimedia, is quite unfortunate, most of the contents in Fulfulde Wikipedia need to be improved, and some need to be clean up, mostly the Biography of notable Fulfulde people are not in the Wikipedia, our existing editors need to be retrain and require more skills in editing Wikipedia and also how to cite a good reference for each article that have been created from a reliable source, and lastly we need to recruit more editors that will continue to contribute to free knowledge for the sustainability of Fulfulde user group. Sule Lamido university Kafin Hausa is a respected public university located in Kafin Hausa Jigawa state Nigeria with not less than 30,000 students and native Fulfulde occupied over 60% looking at the jigawa state, is a state of Fulfulde speaking community. Many peoples are willing and ready to contribute to Wikimedia and its sister project but lack of awareness and training has hindered their effort. By introducing Wikimedia foundation projects to the university will serve as a piller that will promote their excitements in contributing to free knowledge body and also promotes Fulfulde language globally through Wikimedia.
APPROACHES:
- 1. We are going to train more than 60 new editors from the university and beyond on Wikipedia and its sister project: This will encourage more students to participate in the program for the sustainability of Wikipedia in the university.
- 2. Raising awareness about Wikimedia in the campus and beyond: Another approach we are going to adopt is engagement of proper awareness about Wikimedia (Wikipedia, wiki commons, Wikidata among the rest) in the campus, this tools will help both staff and students to have clear picture of Wikimedia foundation projects and how to use Wikipedia in their academic research, Reading Wikipedia in their classrooms as an academic environments.
- 3. A WhatsApp group will be created for the newly recruit editors and returning editors, where they will receive guidance, stay updated, and receive encouragement in their journey of editing Wikimedia foundation projects. Providing training to participants on how to contribute to the various Wikimedia projects that are the focus of the training. This include creating a Wikipedia account, understanding core content policies, grasping general editing principles, and learning how to create new articles, make minor edits, and enhance contents related notable biography of Fulfulde peoples on Wikipedia, places, organizations, etc. utilizing the outreach dashboard, with the assistance of both offline and online editor, to monitor contributions and track the progress of the participants and the project generally.

Fulfulde Wikimedia Awareness and Training in Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa (SLU) Will shed light on six important components for the establishment of long time Wikimedia community in the university and Jigawa State at large.
Awareness engagement: I and my team will undertake a two days trips in the campus to distribute informative flyers and take part in discussion with both students and staffs of the university through collaboration with student union government (SUG), our target is to rises awareness about Wikimedia foundation project in the university premises and also recruit 50 new editors that are willing to contribute to the movement of Wikipedia and its sister project.
First online session: this session will focus on introduction of Wikipedia and its sister project to the newly recruits editors, user account creation, how to edits Wikipedia, the returning editors will learn more from this online session, starting from how to address minor editing errors, how to identify a reliable source to use as a reference etc. This training will be conducted via Google meeting or ZOOM Meeting.
First Physical meet-up/workshop: This session will facilitate on physical training with all our newly recruit editors to teach them how to edit Wikipedia and its sister project, our existing editors will also benefit from this session through acquiring more skills and knowledge on how to cite a good reference from a reliable source.
Second Physical training and Edith-a-thon: This is final session which will focus on monitoring and evaluation of our editors. Following the training, there is going to be four weeks Edit-a Thon for participant and also a certificate and wining prize will be awarded to the top three contributors to serve as an encouragement to the remaining participants.
Second online session: This training session will focused on problem solving, participants who have gained grasp of editing will have the opportunity to explain the challenges they are facing, and my team and I will address those issues so that the participant will have clear picture of Wikimedia foundation projects for the sustainability of free knowledge.
Photos upload in commons: Fulfulde is a language that is spread all over the continent of Africa, Particularly west Africa with diverse culture, its so disheartening to tell that many of local photos of Fulfulde culture are not on Wikimedia commons, through this project we are going to identify more than 250 native Fulfulde local photos and upload them on wikicommons. so that Fulfulde culture will be seen everywhere in the world and help peoples to learn more about Fulfulde monuments.
