私たちの地域には、大学や博物館などの学術研究機関がなく、都市部のように充実した図書館や文化芸術施設もありません。地域の人々の学びの場は多くの場面でインターネットに依存しています。しかし、情報を発信する担い手が少ない地域でもあるため、地域の多くの歴史的文献がデジタル化されておらず、一般に知られていません。 私たちは、誰もがかんたんにアクセスできるWikipedia日本語版にたしかな文献情報に基づく地域項目の充実を図ることで、未だデジタル化されていない文献へのアクセスを容易にし、地域の教育力を底上げします。都市部との教育環境格差を縮めることができれば、それはやがて経済的な格差の改善につながり、人口減少に伴う地域の衰退を遅らせるものと考えています。

（１）京都府北部地域でのウィキペディアタウンまたはマッピングパーティの開催 2024年春に京丹後市弥栄町、網野町、2024年秋に京丹後市峰山町でウィキペディアタウンを開催する計画があります。また、他者の要請に応じて、企画を主催または他ウィキペディアンの開催に協力します。 （２）図書館総合展地域フォーラム、及び、オンラインでの編集相談会の開催 2024年5月11日に東京都昭島市で開催される図書館総合展地域フォーラムに「ウィキペディア展覧会」を出展します。また、7月・9月にも開催検討されている地域フォーラムや、11月に開催予定の図書館総合展本展にも出展する可能性があります。 また、地元・丹後地方においては平均して月１回以上のウィキペディア編集相談会を開催し、上述企画の参加者のスキルアップと、新規エディタソンの開催相談、企画で作成された項目のブラッシュアップを継続的に図ります。 （３）他地域のウィキペディアタウンへの参加・メンバーの派遣 他の都道府県で開催されるウィキペディアタウンに、講師またはファシリテーターとして貢献できる実績のあるウィキペディアンを、本人の希望または主催者の要請に応じて参加協力できるよう、交通費と宿泊費の資金を助成します。各企画の主催者から必要経費の支給があった場合は、不足分のみを補助します。 （４）日本の伝統産業や文化の項目など、特にウィキペディア日本語版において充実させるために現地調査を必要とする項目について、その充実に必要な調査活動費を支出します。

私達のチーム「edit Tango」は、2019年2月に京都府北部地域のウィキペディア項目を充実させること、充実したウィキペディアの項目を教育活動や地域振興に二次利用することを主な目的として、有志のボランティアにより活動を開始しました。主な活動メンバーに、user:モフミ、user:Asturio Cantabrio、user:Gyasuk0、user:Ringo935、user:Kochisa2019ら約10名がおり、そのほか企画により協力体制をとることがある共催者等、周辺地域の住民やウィキペディアンもあわせると約50名がプロジェクトに関係しています。
私と他3名には、初心者にウィキペディアの編集方針等を説明・指導できるだけの知識と経験があり、必要に応じて各地のエディタソンをサポートします。その他の人々は、主にエディタソンの会場提供者であったり、各地域の専門性の高い知識を持つ人物を私たちに紹介するコーディネーターであり、ウィキペディア編集を学ぶ参加者でもあります。
私達のグループに、特別な役職は一切ありません。全員が対等な立場のボランティアであり、活動に報酬も発生していません。ただし、個別の企画において、特別に学術知識やガイド、人的サポートを必要とする場合、半日あたり3,000円の固定給でスタッフを雇用することがあります。想定される主な協力者は、京阪神や愛知県など中部地域で主に活動する実績のあるウィキペディアンと、調査対象地域の郷土研究者です。

京都府北部地域で私たちが主催する企画については、エディタソン開催地域の地区住民全員と、地域振興に携わる自治体やボランティアグループの関係者、市内の高等学校などの教育機関、Wikimedia編集のスキルアップを希望する個人を対象とします。
地域住民に対してホームページ、SNSでの発信のほか、地元高等学校への広報や企画開催地の住民の協力により、ダイレクトにそのコミュニティの関係者にアプローチします。また、Wikipedia内においては、w:ja:プロジェクト:アウトリーチ/ウィキペディアタウンに記載し、協力者を募ります。
他地域の企画に協力する際の対象者は、その企画ごとの主催者により異なりますが、おおむね同じように地域住民または高校生以上の学生を対象とすることが多いです。広報は、各主催者のコネクションで行われます。
