The 2021 Afrocine edit-a-thon in Kenya seeks to build on the sucess of the 2020 edition to help bridge content gaps in line with the objectives of the Months of the African Cinema and also train new editors in the country.

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Both edit-athon and trainning. We plan to have an inperson opening ceremony bringing together all partipants to reconnect and get a debrief of the 2021 edit-a-thon.The event will also provide a platform to train the new editors and give refresher classes to anyone else in need.This will then be followed by weekly virtual edit-a-thons.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We also plan to invite Sam Oyeyele to share his vision for the Afrocine Project to particpants. 5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Half of the participants have the editing knowledge from previous trainning while the new recruits will be traineed.Majority of the Participants also have acess to computers.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Through the Afrocine edit-a-thon WhatsApp group and email

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This edit-a-thon will help build on the outcome of the 2020 edition and help bridge the content gaps on Kenya's TV, Film and Arts sector as well as provide a platfrom for capacity building. The campaign will also help give more visibility to the Months of African Cinema campaign in Kenya with relevant Film and Communications agencies in the country.

We are already in communication with officials from the Kenya Film Commission and the Media Council of Kenya to see how we can collaborate.

We have personal computers and human resource.
