Project Goal[edit]
This project has the following goals:
- To increase the photo related to settlements and geographical elements in Myanmar (Town, villages, river, mountains etc)
- To increase the photo related to Myanmar Culture (Food, Entertainment, Music, Handicrafts etc)
- To raise the awareness of Wikimedia projects in Myanmar
Project Plan[edit]
Activities[edit]
The aim of this project is to raise the awareness of Wikimedia project in Myanmar. It is also aimed to increase the photos and contents related to Myanmar towns and villages as well as the culture of Myanmar under free licensing during contest period. This includes encouraging those who upload media to write about the description of the picture in Myanmar with relevant references in Myanmar Wikipedia and which will ultimately translated into other language especially English. We will try to increase the quality photos on Wikimedia commons and we will raise the awareness about Wikimedia projects at the same time. We will recruit contributors to Wikimedia project to upload photo, to improve articles and to start new articles about Myanmar settlement and culture which could not be currently find in Wikimedia project. We will use this project as a starting point to promote Wikimedia projects in Myanmar.
This project has included the following activities;
- Organizing photo competition for town and villages in Myanmar (Monuments, important places,religious sites, geographical element)
- Organizing photo competition for Myanmar Culture (Food, Entertainment, Music etc)
- Holding one full day workshop for participants to get familiar with Wikimedia projects, uploading photos and how to edit Wikipedia
- Advertising Campaign online and offline
Impact[edit]
This project expect to reach and recruit new editors who love to write, share knowledge and contribute to the community to write more about Myanmar related contents as well as to improve Myanmar Wikipedia.
Measures of Success[edit]
- +1500 photos uploaded to Wikimedia commons.
- Recruitment +20 new users to create acounts on wikmedia projects.
- Increasing skills for editing for the new users by wiki commons and Wikipedia.
- 20+ new articles about geographical element in Myanmar
