Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

This contest will focus on environmental health, communities impacted by environmental issues around the world, humans rights and the environment, environmental degradation, Climate Change, Biodiversity loss and pollution among others. This knowledge is key for society's recovery from COVID-19. Increased awareness in environmental rights will be an addendum to the many strategies the world is adopting to ensure an effective and greener crisis response and recovery. You can read more at -https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiForHumanRights

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

3. How will you let participants know about the contest? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Given the target audience, we will employ several channels such as the International Volunteer Youth Program in Thailand (IVYP), Youth4environment (Youth delegates who participated in the 2021 Virtual Youth Environment Assembly), Attendees of the Dialogue with ASGs of UNDESA and UNEP titled "Multilateralism in an evolving world: What do Youth Want?, Local Conference of Youth in YOUNGO, and YOUNGO (the official youth constituency at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Social media platforms and other means will also be used where necessary.

4. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?
Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.

5. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This is an individual grant for the contest that would support the 2021 WikiforHumanRights Campaign. Considering this year's theme "Right to a healthy Environment", it is imperative to attract and engage young people from Environmental studies background and Environmental rights advocates who are knowledgeable in topics related to the theme. This will bring the right and important stories of human rights and Environment to be documented on Wikipedia. The 2020 Wiki4climate is a case in point where tremendous success was made due to the choice of participants (Climate Change Professionals) for the campaign. More importantly, the COVID-19 pandemic brought to bare the importance of increasing awareness for this theme as a strategy for society's recovery. Virtual Workshops or trainings will be organised for the newbies to equip them with the necessary skills for the contest.
