DRC content on Wikipedia lucks images. We aim at launching a photo contest in order to get more images (500+) to illustrate articles. This will be a 2nd Wiki Loves in our country, and the 1st one in terms of importance.

  1. Present Wiki Loves Africa to Kisangani inhabitant
  2. Recruit new editors
  3. Engage existing editors and encourage them to continue contributing even when the contest is over

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

This Wiki Loves Africa will focus on photo hunting under theme Transportation. Then after we will be uploading photos on Commons followed by a session of illustrating articles on Wikipedia.

2. How will you let people know about the contest?

Word of mouth, social network, posters(displayed in libraries, universities, and schools

3. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?

A 3-member jury will set criteria beforehand and 5 best images will be selected based on these criteria

4. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

After uploading photos we will train people on how to integrate an image on a Wikipedia article.

5. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

For photo contests:

  1. Number of participants: 50+
  2. Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: 500+
  3. Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects: 30+

For writing contests:

  1. Number of participants: 25
  2. Number of articles created or improved: 25
