Briefly summarize your project proposal.

  • Our idea is to introduce Wikidata to the student of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) and create verified and up-to-date content on Wikidata. We plan to engage the computer science student on how to create items on Wikidata and use the Wikidata Query service. However, we will focus on creating and improving content related to primary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Yes, we are doing one training and one edit-a-thons

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We have opened the discussion to this project on the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria discussion page.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

  • We already had a series of discussions with staff and students of the Department of computer science of the institution.
  • We also agreed to use all noticeboards within the institution and existing WhatsApp groups of the students and staff
  • Create more awareness both offline and online through paid ads on Facebook and other relevant social media platforms.

Yes, they are Computer science students. most of them have laptops and phones.

Create a WhatsApp group for mentorship and follow-up events.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
