Need help finalizing?[edit]

Hi kwameghana. Thanks for starting this draft. We are now accepting proposals during the Fall 2015 open call of the Individual Engagement Grants program. If you would like help developing your project plan for submission, I wanted to let you know that we're hosting a few IEG proposal help sessions this month in Google Hangouts. We're happy to provide individualized help with your proposal live in those Hangouts or here via your project's talk page.

Please do indicate here if you would like to finish this proposal and submit it for the current open call, or if you would prefer that it be moved to the "withdrawn" category for now.

Best wishes, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 19:35, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi kwameghana! In our conversation earlier this week, it sounded like you'd decided to hold off on submitting an IEG proposal at this time. If that is the case, I'd like to move this proposal from "draft" to "withdrawn" so the committee will know you are no longer working on it right now. I will plan to do that tomorrow or Monday, but let me know here if you'd prefer that I hold off. Thank you! --Marti (WMF) (talk) 22:10, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I would really love to continue but from what you told me, I have no option. I don't know what to do right now --Kwameghana (talk) 07:40, 21 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kwameghana! It's true that the project idea you described to me is not eligible for grant funding because we don't fund content development. If you browse through our eligibility and selection criteria, you can see the kinds of projects we do fund. Because there is only about one week left until the proposal deadline, it would be difficult to pull a project together that does meet the criteria. Also, based on what you shared with me in our conversation, it sounds like the vision you have is one that does not require funding. As we discussed, I strongly encourage you to start collaborating with your User Group actively as a way of diving into the goals you have for adding photos to Commons. Your photos are a valuable contribution and as you build a partnership with the User Group, you may come up with ideas for how you can work on content development in the ways you envision. For now, based on our discussions, I'm going to go ahead and move this draft to "Withdrawn."
Thanks for your dedication to building the photo library about Ghana on Commons! Warm regards, --Marti (WMF) (talk) 20:18, 21 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
