Grants talk:IdeaLab/www : Wiki Work Women

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hi చక్రవర్తి. Thanks for contributing your idea to the Inspire Campaign. It would be great to have more details about your idea. For example, how will you reach out to women? It sounds like your strategy is to partner with corporations. Can you please explain what those partnerships would look like? Also, it would be great to understand in more detail what each of the team members will be doing. Here is a similar proposal that might help as a reference for developing your idea: WikiWomen Macedonia and more information on holding editing workshops and edithathons. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best, Alex Wang (WMF) (talk) 23:55, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aggregated feedback from the committee for Wiki Work Women[edit]

Scoring rubric Score
(A) Impact potential
  • Does it have the potential to increase gender diversity in Wikimedia projects, either in terms of content, contributors, or both?
  • Does it have the potential for online impact?
  • Can it be sustained, scaled, or adapted elsewhere after the grant ends?
3.7
(B) Community engagement
  • Does it have a specific target community and plan to engage it often?
  • Does it have community support?
1.9
(C) Ability to execute
  • Can the scope be accomplished in the proposed timeframe?
  • Is the budget realistic/efficient ?
  • Do the participants have the necessary skills/experience?
1.8
(D) Measures of success
  • Are there both quantitative and qualitative measures of success?
  • Are they realistic?
  • Can they be measured?
3.4
Additional comments from the Committee:
  • The proposed approach could provide significant impact in principle, but the proposal does not clearly articulate a plan for implementing the approach or achieving the impact.
  • The idea to recruit new women editors in the corporate world is sound and could have impact online with articles. But it is unclear because of the lack of detail how it could be accomplished and whether it could be sustained or adapted elsewhere.
  • Think the idea of conducting workshops for women in corporate environments is novel, but I'm not sure corporations would have buy-in.
  • There appears to be no community engagement or support.
  • Although there is a general target audience, there is no specific organization that is the focus of the project or online community support either inside or outside of the wikimedia movement.
  • The plan lacks detail for the timeline and budget, and information on the experience/skills of the proposer.
  • The measures of success are well-defined, but are possibly unrealistic given the scope of the proposed program.
  • The proposal presents a good idea, but doesn't seem to be sufficiently developed to be effectively funded and implemented.
