Review of team's Wikidata experience[edit]

Because this proposal mentions Wikidata, I have reviewed the team's experience and record.

  • Neutral Neutral Lomoraronald has very little Wikidata experience, and some very old evidence of creating non-notable items.
  • Oppose Oppose LikamboisaacK has a moderate amount of Wikidata experience, but has created a lot of items that were subsequently deleted. A review of recent item creations shows that this user has little appreciation for Wikidata's notability policy, and would therefore not make a good Wikidata trainer.
  • Oppose Oppose George Levi has a moderate amount of Wikidata experience, but has created a lot of items that were subsequently deleted. A review of recent item creations shows that this user has little appreciation for Wikidata's notability policy, and would therefore not make a good Wikidata trainer.
  • Oppose Oppose Aropmathewdaniel has a moderate amount of Wikidata experience, but has created a lot of items that were subsequently deleted. A review of recent item creations shows that this user has little appreciation for Wikidata's notability policy, and would therefore not make a good Wikidata trainer.

In summary, I see no basis here to conclude that this team would be effective in introducing new users to Wikidata. Bovlb (talk) 20:57, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I must confess that I find the situation confusing in fact. This grant request is primarily to support... Wiki Loves Africa. Which means entries to Wikimedia Commons primarily... not to Wikidata. Indeed, I see that they have added « entries » to Wikidata in their metrics and I have no why. There is also a discrepancy between their metrics (50 pictures) and the text (100 pictures). But in any cases, I do not really see why this rapid grant is evaluated for its merits in relationship to Wikidata... user:OtuNwachinemere, could you please check with Romeo what the story is behind this ? thanks Anthere (talk) 00:38, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
ok, will post feedback asap. Wilson (talk) 01:40, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Anthere: Thanks for following up. I evaluated this grant proposal with respect to Wikidata because it specifically mentions a contribution to Wikidata, and because at the moment I am specifically focussed on disruption to Wikidata caused by poor training. I have no specific information about this project beyond what is stated in the proposal. I have performed a similar evaluation on a number of proposals. As a Wikidata administrator, I am well-positioned to perform such an evaluation, so I am providing my services in the hope that it will assist the grant process. This is very interesting to know you are working on such an evaluation (disruption on Wikidata due to poor training). I am noting this. Anthere (talk)

Partially Funded[edit]

Hello  thank you for applying for the rapid fund grant. We reviewed and approved the grant in the amount of 2.050,000 SDG ($2,050 USD) with the following comments;

  • Recommend that the team reviews the budget line items related to internet subscriptions.
  • The team is strongly advised to focus on the wiki project this campaign targets, being Commons only. This means also updating your impact metrics to reflect that.

Best of luck with your project!
