'Strong support Strong support' Going through this project, one can see it does not only aim to bring in new editors but also as a means of rejuvenating this sense of collaborativeness (associateed with WMF), where both the old and new members work together for a common goal - Celebrating the WikiData Birthday and Sensitization. --Iwuala Lucy (talk) 13:08, 28 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • As said in the proposal, Wikidata editors are relatively small in the community. This will be a great way to not only shed light on Wikidata and it's important, but also for experienced and new editors to rub minds. For example, the Kwasu fan club editors are yet to be fully introduced to Wikidata. Meanwhile, the Unilorin fan club which has been around for over 4 years has experienced Wikidata editors. It would be a great way for not communities to learn from each other and network.

Dear Godstime Elijah,

Thanks for submitting your grant application to organize a Wikidata Birthday celebration event in your community. After reviewing your proposal, and consulting with local affiliates, and Wikidata birthday coordinators, we made a hard decision to not fund your request.

In order to ensure coordination and collaboration in the communities, we decided to approve Wikidata Birthday celebration grants only for recognized affiliates and allied organizations. We highly encourage you to join your efforts with your local affiliate and organize a Wikidata Birthday celebration together.

You can reach out to your local affiliate if you need any support to participate in the local celebrations.

Seeing that you are from a Nigerian community, you can also consider applying for the Wikimedia Nigeria User Group microgrants program if you need financial support to participate.
