Hi@YPam (WMF),
Thank you for reviewing my Rapid Grant and for providing feedback on why it was not funded. I appreciate your concern about this.
I am writing to request a reconsideration of my application for the rapid grant titled "Wikipedia Workshop for Gender Equality in Kano." I appreciate the feedback provided by the Wikimedia Foundation, and I have taken your recommendation to reach out to the Hausa Community User Group for support and potential guidance.
After careful consideration and fruitful discussions with the Hausa Community User Group, I believe there are additional aspects of this project that warrant reconsideration. I would like to present these points to you in the hope of securing funding for this important initiative.
1. Addressing a Critical Gender Gap: The gender gap on Wikipedia is a well-documented issue, and our workshop specifically aims to address this problem in the context of Kano. By focusing on Kano, we can make a meaningful impact on a local level while contributing to the global efforts of achieving gender equality on Wikipedia.
2. Collaboration and Expertise: The Hausa Community User Group possesses valuable expertise and experience in the Wikimedia movement. By collaborating with them, we can ensure that the workshop is aligned with best practices, leverages local knowledge, and benefits from the support and guidance of an established community. This collaboration will significantly enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of the project.
3. Local Context and Empowerment: The workshop will be tailored to the specific needs and challenges faced by women in Kano. By engaging local organizations, activists, and educational institutions, we can create a safe and supportive environment for women to learn and actively contribute to Wikipedia. This empowerment will have a lasting impact on the participants and the wider community.
4. Measurable Outcomes and Evaluation: We have developed a robust monitoring and evaluation plan to track the impact of the workshop. This includes measuring the number of articles created or improved, assessing participants' knowledge gain through pre- and post-workshop evaluations, and documenting the increased representation of women on Wikipedia. These measurable outcomes will provide concrete evidence of the workshop's success and effectiveness.
Given these points, I kindly request you to reconsider funding my rapid grant application. I am more than willing to provide any additional information or address any concerns you may have. I firmly believe that this workshop has the potential to make a significant and positive impact on gender equality within the Wikimedia community.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your positive response.
