The proposal is well-written, with clearly stated aims and strategies for implementation., implementation strategies, and a high level of community involvement to address knowledge gaps and change on Rivers state is one of the Niger-Delta states located in the Southern part of Nigeria. This project will also address knowledge gaps that exist about people, places, heritage, organisations in Rivers state by creating new articles and improving existing ones. Furthermore, there is collaboration with Historians and and history students that form members of the academic community in Rivers State, so they can be equipped with the right set of competencies to document local knowledge here on Wikipedia. This project will help improve contents on Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikicommons about articles related to Reviers state. in conclusion, this project aligns with the recommendations of Wikimedia 2030 Movement strategy. --Linason Blessing (talk) 21:22, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback from MEA regional funds team[edit]

Hello Ugwulebo, thanks for submitting this grant application. We have reviewed your grant proposal and we have the following recommendation.

  • We acknowledge the importance of the project and relevance of the theory of change. However, we want to highlight that it is similar to another funded grant application by the same team.
  • We recommend partial funding in the amount of 919,134 NGN (2,000 USD). We request an adjusted and reduced budget in NGN. Costs for food, prizes, souvenirs, photography, communication, and other items should be reduced. Costs for any duplicated resources that the applicant and team already have from their previous projects should be removed. Please note that we will process the grant and send the funds in your local currency only.
  • Since the activities will take place at a university, we request that the applicant considers collaboration with the university to get the space with a reduced amount or free.

Additionally please respond to these questions in your application.

  • Please provide detailed definitions for the core metrics. How do you define participants, editors, and organizers? Add them to the metrics section in your grant proposal (question 17).
  • Which resources will you use to train participants? Please add all relevant links and information to your response to question 2. If you don't have any training resources, please explain why.
  • Will you be in touch with Hausa Wikimedians User Group when implementing this project? How do you coordinate these activities with them? (question 11)

We have sent the application back to you for adjustments. If you accept the recommendations, please adjust your application and budget and re-submit by 26 February 2023. DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:46, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @DSaroyan (WMF),
Thank you for reviewing my rapid fund request. Please note that:
  • I have adjusted and reduced the budget as requested. The current budget now reflect NGN 918,934 (USD 2,000).
  • We are currently exploring the possibility of getting a suitable event space at a reduced cost within the University. We will report on it if/when we get a suitable space within the University at a reduced cost.
  • Additional explanation of the different core metrics have been given as requested (See question 17).
  • Most of the training resources that will be used in this project are locally developed offline materials and PowerPoint slides that will aid the participants` understanding of the subject matter. This will be followed by hands-on training sessions.
  • At this stage, we will not be working with the Hausa Wikimedians User Group, as most of the activities in this project will be done in English. However, we have notified the general Wikimedia community in Nigeria about this project. The learnings from this project will likely influence our decision to scale up this project to include other local language communities in Nigeria at a different time.
  • Please don't hesitate to reach me if you require more clarity about the proposal. Thank you. Ugwulebo (talk) 19:54, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
