Report accepted[edit]

Hello Elns, thank you for submitting this final report. Congratulations on meeting and exceeding all initial targets. We are glad that you edited over 300 articles about North Cameroon! I have a few questions after reviewing the grant report.

  • Do you have any photos from your events that you can share with us?
  • What tools did you use to track participants' contributions?
  • You mentioned that dozens of articles were deleted from French Wikipedia. What was the main reason? Did you try to talk to the admins?* What sources do you usually use during the events?
  • How can we support you to make it easier for participants to find free information on different rural areas?

Thanks again for your time and dedication! We are grateful for your contributions and wish you good luck for your future projects. The expense documents and final report are reviewed and accepted. It means that the grant is now complete. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:37, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Answers[edit]

Hi DSaroyan (WMF), thanks for the feedback.

  • Usually we do not take public photos because many contributors do not want to share their photos in a free access platform. However, in the 7.0 edition, we have photos as a results and in relation with 20 years celebration of wikipedia. The 7.0 edition will have many photos.
  • We use http://fr.wikiscan.org/ to track participants' contributions. And usually, contributors give us the link of their contribution to help them to improve the contribution.
  • Articles were deleted from French Wikipedia because as our contributors are new and it is their first experience with wikipedia contribution, many of them have difficulties to write good articles. But hozever, usually, we come after them and help them to improve articles. But administrators do not give us time to improve articles. The other reason is the source of reference. As our subject is villages. We do not have many source of information on villages. So many articles usually use the same few source of information. Administrators would like to have many source of information on articles on villages. And the last is that they want popular areas, village cannot be popular like cities. So we have structural limit to convince administrators on the importance to also give space on african village in wikipedia
  • I think that it is difficult to find free information on different rural areas for all of us. The problem is that african culture is oral culture. There is not many written document on rural areas. Hopefully, we dream that all this effort can help african villages to be integrated books and online platform

Thanks for your assistance. Best regards, --Elns (talk) 16:24, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
