Hi Kaizenify, thank you for submitting this Rapid Grant application. It’s great to learn that you are going to continue the SPARQL and Wikidata trainings at the Federal University of Agriculture. I have a few questions that I’d like you to respond to.

  • Are you in touch with User:DonKevin who organized the SPARQL training at the Lagos State University? Why isn’t he involved in this project?
Thank you DSaroyan (WMF) for appreciating our work with DSC LASU. Initially I was informed on this project in FUNAAB but I asked Kaizenify to fix an earlier date because I will be involved with Samatics in a similar physical event in University of Ibadan. Kaizenify can add my name on the proposal page since he has fixed an earlier the date. Thanks.-DonKevin (talk) 05:07, 17 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the update, DonKevin. I'm glad you can participate in this event! --DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:53, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Given the engagement of Wikimedia Nigeria in this project, I think that the grant should be credited to the User Group. Please update the probox and add the User Group name.
  • Could you please provide more details on the need for accommodation expenses?
  • Additionally, please provide details about the “Photography coverage” expense.
  • Do you have a schedule for the trainings? Could you please share it with us?

Looking forward to your response. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 14:17, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello DSaroyan (WMF). Thank you so much for taking out time to review this and the questions. Here are follow-up answers to the questions you raised:

  • Yes, i am and it was just an ommission. He has been included now on the grant page aswell.
  • This project is an individual grant borne out of my capacity as the founder of the Wikimedia Fanclub FUNAAB and also since i am not a contact for the Wikimedia Nigeria Usergroup, i think it shoudlnt be for the User group. Olushola Olaniyan listed here who is the Presdient of the Wikimedia Nigeria Usergroup is only a facilitator due to his experience in training about Wikidata, others included as resource person are also from different fan clubs in Nigeria.
  • This project was conceptualized as a reesult of the success of the Lagos state Univerasity Wikidata event and the resources person are all from Lagos. So it is important to bring this 3 resource persons who played a huge role at the LASU event to this one aswell which is in another state (Ogun state) hence the accomodation for the 3 resource persons.
  • The photography coverage is for camera rentals which will be used during the two days training.
  • Yes i have a scedule training plan and i have added it to the grant information page.

Thank you once again and hope this clarifies it? Kaizenify (talk) 12:07, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kaizenify, thanks for your response. I have an additional question regarding the engagement of Wikimedia Nigeria User Group.
  • Could you please confirm that the Nigerian Wikimedia Fanclubs are not associated with Wikimedia Nigeria? Do they operate without User Group support and engagement? For instance, the Wikimedia Fan Club, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta page states that This club is based in the campus and run by the students with coordination from Wikimedia Nigeria. Additionally, the page content is in a subpage of Wikimedia User Group Nigeria which also shows the connection between the UG and Fan Club. So, I need more details whether Wikimedia Nigeria does or doesn't coordinate Fan Club's activities and whether it is considered as a part of the affiliate. Thank you, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 14:24, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello DSaroyan (WMF): The fan clubs are affiliates of the Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation but they are financially independent of the Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation. They run their programs independent of the Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation. The same ways that Wikimedia Chapters and User Groups are affiliates of the Wikimedia Foundation but are financially and operationally independent of the WMF.
