Hi Sunkanmi12, thank you for submitting your grant application. I have some questions to learn more about the grant proposal and planned activities.

  • Could you please tell us more about what you want to achieve by organizing 8 events?

The community is a new one and almost every member is a new editor. Our goal for 2022 is to focus on capacity building and we believe that the first phase of achieving that is to organize a series of events that will help our community members be strong and consistent editors. Then we will move to the next phase of the capacity building plan.

  • What are your goals beyond recruiting new members and how will you achieve these goals?

Content Gender Gap: Ghana is a female-dominated country but still has lesser articles or items about notable women on Wiki projects. This issue is important to us because we as a community will want to contribute our effort to reduce the systematic bias in the movement. In light of this, We will be focusing more on the subject of women on Wikipedia and Wikidata. We will ensure that more than 50% of the articles that are being created or improved are women-related.

Community Engagement: Although the community is still growing, we have seen the interest of community members reduce due to a lack of consistency in our events. Hence, We have chosen to adopt projects that will last for a longer period. We will also continue our one-on-one mentorship system that has seen our community grow at a better rate

  • Do you have the same goals and timeline for all 8 events or will there be any differences?

No. The plan is to introduce new and existing participants to Wikidata and Wikipedia in the first half of the event and then use the remaining half for intensive editing events to boost participants' confidence and consistency.

  • Could you please provide a short schedule of one of the events?

LUCG EDITATHON SCHEDULE (EVENT 1 of 8)

  • Do you have relevant experience to run these online and offline activities?

Yes. Our team members have relevant experience in organizing the events.

  • What community engagement skills do you have in the team?

Event Facilitation, One-on-one mentorships, Feedback & Recognition, Commitment to Diversity, Adequate communication skills, Organizational and project management skills, Interpersonal skills.

  • How will you make sure that some participants continue editing even when there are no formal events organized by your community?

We plan on retaining participants through our one-on-one mentorship system which ensures continuous engagement of participants in Wikimedia activities. We also track the contributions of community members through the Program and Outreach Dashboard to give incentives to top contributors after the physical events.

  • Could you please provide a detailed description of what will be the Project Coordinator's role in this project?

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the schedule, budget, and details of every event or meeting are well organized. He will communicate with the team and community members to keep everyone on board about any changes to the project plan. In addition, He will organize reporting, plan meetings and provide updates to the team and community members.

  • Have you discussed this proposal with other community members and how?

Yes. We had a discussion with community members after the first event on our WhatsApp platform which led to them suggesting that we adopt the long-term planning method.

  • Do you have a public Meta page which lists all active contributors/members in your community?

Yes. LUCG Wikimedia Community

  • How is your group managed? How do you ensure transparent usage of funds?

For Quality Assurance and Engagements, we manage our group through mentorship, interpersonal relationship, effective and open communication, task delegation, and performance reviews or feedback but financially, we depend on funding from the movement. User:Nimot123 and User:Sunkanmi12 are in charge of the funds and are tasked to give financial reports monthly (if we are hosting a series of events).

  • Are you in touch with other Wikimedia groups in the region?

Yes. Global Open Initiative is the closest group to us and we have a cordial relationship.

  • How will ensure to create reusable printed materials (banners, flyers, etc.), so that they are useful during your next activities?

Apart from the top contributors, T-shirts, Mugs, and Stickers will be shared amongst consistent Community and team members who will be attending our subsequent events.

  • How much does buy a router for this project and your group would cost?

A router for this type of project costs GHS997 each. We will need three of them for this project which totals (GHS 2,991).

Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks for your time, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 13:02, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
