Comments[edit]

Excellent Initiative and planned projects. Here I would like to add few more things as suggestion.

  1. Can we include visiting card in the list.
  2. Can we include Identity Card in the list.
  3. Custom Swag (Tees, Stickers, etc etc) for specific project. Example - Ongoing project of West Bengal User Group is Chinsura Project. Another project is in pipeline and expected to be start soon is Kalna Project. Can we make custom Swag for both the project.
  4. Can we increase the budget for each Photowalk, as we can include Photo contest along with the Photowalk and we can offer Cash prize for the contest(as per my knowledge, Cash prize for photo contest is acceptable in Wiki). In our last photowalk "Wikipedia Takes Kolkata VI" we declared a Photo contest along with Heritage photowalk, which worked as a catalyst and we reap good results.
  5. Sometime extra Laptop is also required for workshop, specially in the case of workshop at rural/Suburbs area. In that case we need to rent laptop. Can we include Laptop on Rent in list.

Thank you so much for reading my lines carefully. - Indrajit Das (Talk - Contribs) 18:02, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Comments from I JethroBT (WMF)[edit]

Hi Jayantanth, thanks for your proposal for this annual plan of programs and events for the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group. I'll be leaving more comprehensive comments and questions tomorrow, but to start, could you adjust the start date? Would sometime in mid June or early July be appropriate? My apologies that this review process took sometime to begin. Due to some questions we had about fiscal sponsorship with CIS and limited staffing resources in our own department, the review process started later than I wanted it to. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 19:20, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again Jayantanth, thanks for adjusting the dates on the proposal. Here are some questions I have so far:

  • When you're able, could you add a specific day for the start / end date of the grant? Either the beginning or end of the month is fine in terms of when you'd like to start.
  • Thanks for providing the expected participation for your events. I'd also like to see some more specific outcomes under the Impact section. I'd suggest breaking things out into your overall expected outcomes for 1) the workshops, 2) the photowalks, 3) the online edit-a-thons, 4) the GLAM project, 5) Building Bengali community, and 6) Meetups. (That is, I don't think you need to provide metrics for each photowalk, edit-a-thon, and workshop individually-- they can be grouped together).
  • What sort of topics do you plan to cover at the Wikisource and Wikipedia workshops? Also, what institutions will these events be held at?
  • Out of curiosity, is there a reason you're expected greater attendance at the Bengali Wikisource10 event compared to the Wikipedia 17 celebration? Is there a larger community around Bengali Wikisource compared to Bengali Wikipedia? I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:34, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • At the end of your events, how will you know if you've achieved your goal of improving the quality of articles, as noted in your Project Goals section?

Let me know if I can clarify any of these questions for you. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 20:34, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jayantanth: Just a reminder to respond to these questions when you're able. Thanks! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 18:09, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for late response. My replies are followings...
  • I have adjusted the date.
  • I shall update more matrix in impact section.
  • For best practice, we are more used to elaborate both Wikipedia and other sister projects. We have some proposal from different institute around Kolkata. But we are trying to penetrate in rural Bengal, where most of the Bengali speaker available.
  • Not really, but it may be we re expecting more people Wikipedia17 than wikisource10.
  • we know that there are no tool to measure the quality of article. We will measure it manually in wikipedia. But in Wikisource, we can measure it from the "validation" done by the users.

@Jayantanth: Thanks. Can you also respond to the following:
  • There is an underspend from the previous PEG grant (80,193 INR). Can you confirm that this will partially pay for for this Rapid Grant?
  • Can you also confirm that CIS will serve as the fiscal sponsor for this Rapid Grant?
Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 22:57, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @I JethroBT (WMF):, we are requesting for re-allocation of the underspend money from the previous PEG grant i.e. 80,193 INR. to this rapid grant. We are not asking for any extra amount right now. After we spend the underspend money this year, if there remains any left project, only then we will request for the remaining money as requested in the grant application, but we will try our best to complete all the events and projects with the underspend money.
