Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Wikimedia UG Nigeria(WUGN)/Wikimedia Radio and TV Program Grant

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Hello, Olaniyan. Thank you for this WMF Rapid Grant application, submitted on behalf of the Wikimedia Community User Group Nigeria. This sounds like a unique opportunity for your group to reach out to more people in Nigeria, and a fruitful partnership with Blackface radio. We appreciate that you have been self-funding this work for some time.

We have some ideas and suggestions for you to consider before we make a final decision.

  1. It looks like the link you provided to the program's facebook page here isn't working, so you might want to fix that!
  2. We're not going to fund this project on the scale proposed (6 months) without first seeing more evidence that you are successfully reaching new volunteers or editors through this program. But we can fund it at 200,000 NGN for 2 months (8 programs). If the program is effective at drawing in new editors and volunteers during that time, then we can consider providing funding for a longer period of time. Would you be able to continue the project for now with 2 months of funding?
  3. Finally, we saw that you have a project page on Meta, where you have announced the radio program and linked to the project page. Before we approve, can you please link to an announcement about the grant request itself from your group's page on Meta, to ensure that all of your group's members are informed about the grant request? Also, we'd recommend that you announce the grant applications in any other forums your group uses to communicate (such as mailing lists), to be sure other group members are supportive. This might also help you to gather some endorsements for your project on the application page!

Thank you for your work on the application so far. Your prompt responses will help us make a speedy decision about your grant.

Approved: 200,000 NGN[edit]

Thank you for your responses, Olaniyan Olushola. This grant is approved on a pilot basis at NGN 200,000. After two months, we can take a look at the results, to see if the project is effective in drawing in new editors and volunteers. Congratulations on setting up this partnership with Blackface radio, and thanks for your work with the Wikimedia Movement in Nigeria. Best wishes for a successful project! Thank you @Wolliff (WMF): for the amendment to the grant request , i think there is need to adjust the start and end period of this project since it is only being funded for two months. That means, if we started on the 29th of March it will end of May 2017. Best Regards Olaniyan Olushola (talk) 21:49, 18 April 2017 (UTC).[reply]
