Ex-contractors and rapid grants ?

[edit]

Hello @ABruszik-WMF,

We met already at various WMF hackathons. As we look for WMF grants this year I need a clarification. In Grants:Project/Rapid#Eligibility_requirements, I read :

You are not eligible for funding if:

  • You are a [...] or other paid staff or contractor of a Wikimedia affiliate/group/organisation with existing Wikimedia Foundation Fund awards (General Support Fund, Rapid Fund, Research Fund, Conference Fund, Movement Strategy Implementation Grants).

We are looking for funding for Lingua Libre, our 10 years old WM projects. While we are mostly volunteers, some of use did freelances for WMFR on Lingualibre. This is one of the way we have to tackle deeper technical revamps. Could you clarify to us: can we as ex-contractor apply to the WMF's Rapid Grants ? Best regards, Yug (talk) 15:42, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Yug I don't think Agnes will get notifications for her WMUK as she works for the WMF now, but her WMF account is User:ABruszik-WMF. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 15:46, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's updated ! thank Richard. 👍 Yug (talk) 15:49, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, both! I replied to your email @Yug. Nice weekend! Agnes ABruszik-WMF (talk) 18:36, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Yug, I'll respond to your question. Your ex-contractor status does not affect your Rapid Fund eligibility. The criterion cited applies only to ongoing/active contactors or staff. DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 08:03, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Understood, thank for the clarification. Yug (talk) 13:59, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
