[edit]The following was discussed at the first meet up.
Wikimedia ZA chapter
[edit]Bobby and Dumisani introduced Wikimedia ZA to the group and the current activities of the chapter and requested people to join the chapter and to volunteer in chapter activities, especially towards planning to host the next Regional Wikimania (2017??).
Also explained about Joburgpedia and work done since 2013 till now. Bobby updated that CoJ has already comissioned 14 plaques. Sinenhlanhla queried about advertisement and Dumisani reverted that were are planning for an advertisement drive for the year.
Working with the Goethe Institute
[edit]- Brigette confirmed that the Goethe Institute would be interested in working with WMZA especially on the:
- - Joburgpedia project with Conhill Education.
- - Edit-A-Thons for Johannesburg.
- Goethe Institute is partnering with Wiki Africa to host Wiki Loves Women 2016. There will be a meet up in Johannesburg on the second week of April 2016. Joburg Wikipedians are invited.
- The Goethe instute has german classes and connects to schools that teach German. Also cultural classes for german language. Photograph classes and workshops. So are welcom to proposals for collaboration.
- Also works together with Fundza Luxaka and Nalibali education groups to build relationships with schools.
