Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Ilocano Wikipedia

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

This is a proposal for closing and/or deleting a wiki hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation. It is subject to the current closing projects policy.

The proposal is rejected and the project will be kept open.

  • A Language Committee member provided the following comment:
Closed by non LangCom member per IAR as obviously not succeeding request with no valid reason. That a wiki has content is precisely what we do encourage, not vice versa. —MarcoAurelio 11:05, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Type: 1 (routine proposal)
  • Proposed outcome: deletion
  • Proposed action regarding the content: because there's the about languages only, not the others
  • Notice on the project:
  • Informed Group(s): none.

Rationale[edit]

The Ilocano Wikipedia has more about languages than the others. Please close this wiki because this is only used by about languages. --Cyrus noto3at bulaga (talk) 08:16, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What you mean is completely unclear to me. Without knowing the language, it does not seem like the most active WP, but it certainly has enough activity to not close it. It does not seem that you have notified the user community, unless the page has been deleted.--Prosfilaes (talk) 00:28, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
By all appearances, this wiki is active enough to stay open. Unless you can demonstrate that everything here is really vandalism of some kind, there is absolutely no reason to close this project. StevenJ81 (talk) 18:23, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have watched 10-20 random pages there, and I see just a very typical Wikipedia project with hopefully a good content. The big number of language-related articles (and it's definitely not the majority among all pages) is even very good, not every project could boast of well-elaborated linguistic thematics. No relevant reasons for closure. --Wolverène (talk) 16:52, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
