submitted verification final decision

This language has been verified as eligible.
The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page.

Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval.

If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval.

  • The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
  • The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
  • The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:

Proposal[edit]

This is a proposal for a new Wikisource project in Malay. There is a localized main page in the multilingual wikisource, though not currently maintained. There are lots of historical and important Malay documents that can be digitized. We have done a bit of work, see oldwikisource:Perlembagaan Persekutuan Malaysia (Constitution of Malaysia). Discussion[edit]

Arguments in favour[edit]

We must have wikisource ms, because we need other wikipedia community languages to know that our language wiki is very productive. It is also important, to enrich our Malay language wiki so that other wiki community too will know our beautiful and colourful Malay language culture. So that's why we must have wikisource ms! ASAP. — Imran Al-Sahih 16:35, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • I strongly support the creation. Didie 03:06, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Nothing can go against the creation of Wikisource Malay! Izzudin 23:28, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Nothin? An insufficient project in the Incubator will do the trick. GerardM 09:16, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Arguments against[edit]

General discussion[edit]

  • I don't think we should make a test project at the Incubator. The project already has its home at the Oldwikisource (see oldwikisource:Category:Bahasa Melayu). Moving our project to the Incubator first and then to the new domain would mean unnecessary extra work. Aviator 17:52, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
    • That is reasonable in my (personal) opinion. :) GerardM 20:09, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
      • Shall we move on to the final approval, then? Aviator 23:38, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
        • Wikisources may not be made on Incubator, they have to stay on the OldWikisource. ~~
  • All most used MediaWiki messages has been translated as of r28799. [1] Aviator 13:59, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • When will the new wiki be created? I think all the conditions are met, and we've been waiting since last year. Aviator 23:31, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Localisation effort[edit]

Currently 99.11% of the MediaWiki messages and 4.15% of the messages used in the extensions used by the Wikimedia Foundation have been localised in Betawiki. Thanks, GerardM 07:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
