This language has been verified as eligible. The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. You can discuss the creation of this language project on this page. Once the criteria are met, the language committee can proceed with the approval and will verify the test project content with a reliable neutral source, such as a professor or expert. If you think the criteria are met, but the project is still waiting for approval, feel free to notify the committee and ask them to consider its approval.A committee member provided the following comment: Please contribute to the test project. (Note: @MiiCii, please remember that projects cannot be approved unless there is a community creating them. We encourage you to recruit people to collaborate with you.) - The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
- The community needs to complete required MediaWiki interface translations in that language (about localization, translatewiki, check completion).
- The community needs to discuss and complete the settings table below:
| What | Value | Example / Explanation |
|---|
| Proposal | ||
|---|---|---|
| Language code | mnc (SIL, Glottolog) | A valid ISO 639-1 or 639-3 language code, like "fr", "de", "nso", ... |

| Project name | "Wiktionary" in your language | |
| Project namespace | usually the same as the project name | |
| Project talk namespace | "Wiktionary talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace) | |
| Enable uploads | no | Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons. If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin").
Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons. |
| Optional settings | ||

[edit]Manchu language (ᠮᠠᠨᠵᡠ ᡤᡳᠰᡠᠨ, manju gisun) is a Tungusic language of China. It was the official language of the Qing Dynasty, honoured as 國語 (national language), widely used in records (e.g. Manchu Veritable Record), multilingual dictionaries and memorial to the throne. Thus, this language plays a important role in Chinese historical studying.
It has 1,665 pages currently, written in Manchu Script and Latin Alphabet.
If Wiktionary Manchu has been approved, more Wikipedians could edit the page, in order to preserve the historical but critically endangered language.

[edit]Editing Plan for Manchu Wiktionary Entries
[edit]The editing plan of the Manchu Wiktionary is listed below.
Unless otherwise stated, dates are in UTC+8. The workload is extremely heavy, strongly recommend collaborating with other editors to complete it. Books are not arranged in chronological order.
Imperially Commissioned Enlarged and Revised Dictionary of Manchu Words (Yuzhi Zengding Qingwenjian)
Manchu: ᡥᠠᠨ ᡳ
ᠠᡵᠠᡥᠠ
ᠨᠣᠩᡤᡳᠮᡝ
ᡨᠣᡴᡨᠣᠪᡠᡥᠠ
ᠮᠠᠨᠵᡠ
ᡤᡳᠰᡠᠨ ᡳ
ᠪᡠᠯᡝᡴᡠ
ᠪᡳᡨᡥᡝ (han -i araha nonggime toktobuha manju gisun -i buleku bithe)
Chinese: 御製增訂清文鑑/御制增订清文鉴 (Yùzhì Zēngdìng Qīngwénjiàn)
- Inputting the full text of the book (32 volumes + 4 supplementary volumes) (Unreviewed & Unrevised) -- Completed on May 16, 2025.
- Batch removal of line breaks (<br>) in the source code of Manchu text -- As of December 31, 2025, the batch deletion process has progressed to the entry of "larin" (ᠯᠠᡵᡳᠨ/蹇, "donkey") (corresponding to the 18,671th entry out of 18,671 entries in the Pentaglot Dictionary).-- Completed on December 31, 2025.
- Traditional Manchu script has multiple mutually compatible romanized transcription plans. In the long-term plan, we will adopt the transcription schemes developed by Möllendorff, Abkai, and Hu to enable mutual access between traditional Manchu entries and the 3 romanized transcription plans. For instance, ᠵᠠᡴᡡᠩᡤᡝᡵᡳ (Manchu alphabet) ↔ jakūnggeri (Möllendorff) ↔ jakvnggeri (Abkai) ↔ zhakuunggeri (Hu) = "eight times".
- Adding translations for corresponding entries in other languages including Chinese (including the outdated or obseleted translations in original version, as well as Modern Standard Chinese expressions.) and English.
- Analyzing Etymology of each entries.

Imperially Ordered Western Regions Thesaurus (Qinding Xiyu Tongwenzhi)
Chinese: 欽定西域同文志/钦定西域同文志 (Qīndìng Xīyù Tóngwénzhì)

- Inputting text.
- Creating hyperlinks. Applicable to the traditional Manchu script and traditional Chinese characters used in the original text, as well as the newly added romanization of Manchu and simplified Chinese characters in this project.
- The original text contains historical inaccuracies in certain sections, such as erroneously describing Britain as a vassal state of Dutch and confusing France with Portugal. These points must be noted clearly.
Imperially Ordered Linguistic Interpretation of the Three Histories of Liao, Jin, and Yuan (Liao Jin Yuan Sanshi Yujie)
Chinese: 欽定遼金元三史語解/钦定辽金元三史语解 (Qīndìng Liáo Jīn Yuán Sānshǐ Yǔjiě)
