Steward requests/Permissions

This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. 'If your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the approval of your local community.

When requesting permissions, copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Please fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

==== Project name and language ====
I request sysop access.

*'''Local Request Link:''' [[xx:Project:wiki]]
*'''Local User Page:''' [[xx:User:Example]]

I request sysop access.

Please file a request for adminship on Wikipedia and come back after 1 week when community elected you. --Dbl2010 05:09, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I request sysop access.

Please file a request for adminship on Wikipedia and come back when community elected you. MaxSem 08:23, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That is the problem. There are only one admin in that Wikipedia and I can't find a way to contact him. The admin does have user account but he is not active. Kurniasan 09:07, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about this. Post in some public page (village pump) that you want to be a sysop. After 1 week, if you have no considerable opposition (for instance, if wiki is inactive, nobody will oppose ;) come here, show us the page, and we'll sysop you. drini [es:] [commons:] 03:00, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I request Bureaucrat access.

Thank you. Wahab 03:18, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I'm confused; a request for adminship for Wisesabre was later changed to your name (including votes) by the administrator ‏افرازالقریش‎. Since I cannot read Urdu, I'm having difficulty making sense of the change. Could you please explain this? —{admin} Pathoschild 20:04:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Our community at urdu wikipedia at first decided that wisesabre should take Bureacrat access, After his request was delayed, wisesabre himself refused to be bureaucrat . Now same community has chosen me for this job because im, mostly active at wiktionary. You can contact these voters at urdu wikipedia. They can answer any of your question in english.Wahab
Please make a new nomination for yourself, notify the community on the relevant page, and wait at least a week. Simply changing an existing request to your own name is unusual and defeats the purpose of having an election. Thanks. —{admin} Pathoschild 07:05:44, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
New nomination has been made Wahab 02:51, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, and email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information).

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

Removal of access

If you want to request that your own status be removed, please don't forget to place a note in English on your local user talk page. This is required to prove your identity. And then add the request here.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

ja:User:TEy on jawp

I, TEy on jawp.I hope to remove my sysop flag. I cannot act enough for the time being. Thank you regards.--TEy 14:16, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please put a note at your user page at jawiki in English saying that you want to your sysop flag removed. Thanks. --Dbl2010 00:04, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal. Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage.

Khmer Wikipedia

I would like to request temporary sysop access to kmwiki as the wiki is full of vandalism and spam. The sysop there (km:User:Bookofjude & km:User:Fuzheado) has been inactive for quite a while now. Thanks. Master2841 19:21, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please create a local request page and link it from the talk pages of the existing admins and from any centralized existing community talk page (such as a village pump, cafe or Babel). If none exists, then place a comment/link on the wiki's main page talk page. We will then give them all a few days to respond. --Daniel Mayer 13:30, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dzongkha Wikipedia

I wish to temporarily become a sysop or administrator for the Dzongkha wikipedia. 90% of the pages are spam and there are currently no sysops assigned. I do not speak Dzongkha fluently, but I am responsible for two of the five or so legitimate articles on the Wikipedia (khangche and palang). Cheers, Ushanka 04:47, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Estonian Wikiquote

I request administrator access.

I need either bureucrat or sysop rights in Wikiquote. Ave Maria Mõistlik

Provisional sysop rights would do.

As you can see, there's no administrators so far and among 35 users there is no community. So, with provisional sysop rights i would be able to delete the empty articles and articles with text "hello people" etc.

Thank you. 85.89.37.181 19:28, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beta Wkiversity

Hi, I would like to request for an administrator possition on beta.wikiversity. I am incubating there cs wikiversity and there should be someone understanding the language to be able quickly react. I am skilled in this function, because I am an admin on cs.

tk.wikipedia

I'd like to become a temporary sysop on this wiki to do some maintenance work. There are lots of pages nominated for speedy deletion and some spambots to be blocked. Local sysops are currently inactive (last edit 22 February, 2 March). --.anaconda 16:58, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please create a local request page and link it from the talk pages of the existing admins and from any centralized existing community talk page (such as a village pump, cafe or Babel). If none exists, then place a comment/link on the wiki's main page talk page. We will then give them all a few days to respond. --Daniel Mayer 13:35, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Miscellaneous requests

Requests that don't fit in other sections belong here. Note that the following types of requests belong on separate pages: bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and requests for CheckUser queries.

Username change here on meta

I'd like to change from Mark Ryan to Mark which is already taken on Meta. My request is over at Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat. - Mark Ryan 03:55, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are local bureaucrats which can do this change. No need for a steward. -Romihaitza 09:48, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stewards who can understand Hebrew language

Hello! I am a local Admin and a Bureaucrat of Dhivehi wikipedia, which is similar to the Hebrew language. I need help to fix a few things on Dhivehi Wikipedia, (lang code:dv).

--Glacious 16:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you already are sysop and bureaucrat there, which permission do you request for? :o) Btw., I don't understand Hebrew, but I can say that Dhivehi is not even related to Hebrew. Dhivehi is an Indo-European language (Ethnologue), whereas Hebrew is Afro-Asiatic... Thus the two languages can't be similar. --Thogo (talk) 16:50, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yeah It s not that similar, but u know same as the right to left reading order.

--Glacious 16:58, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Many unrelated languages read from right to left. Sean William 17:47, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
