Maybe a gadget for enwiki[edit]

Hi all, this is somewhat low on the priority list, so don't hold out that it will be rolled out on the back end soon, but we can still do it on a project, for example the English Wikipedia as a gadget (and then any other project can import or transwiki). Pings to the supporters: Klein Muçi, Javiermes, Ed6767, OwenBlacker, Libcub, JPxG, Uanfala, Thingofme, Shushugah, Bilorv, paul2520. Vulphere, Ayumu Ozaki, Jl sg. This would limit it to "users" and it would certainly be opt-in; but could serve as a foundation for future work. For the css style solution, EXAMPLE OUTPUT it would just be 2 alternating colors; so just need someone to pick what those colors will be (you can pick anything from RGBA). Think about it, ping me here if you want. This would be a "first step" at least, like I said others could expand on it (either gadget-wise, or software wise) if they want of course. — xaosflux Talk 16:18, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As I said in my support comment, I do not feel this would be very good if just a gadget as it should be targeted at readers, with a very low technical barrier to enabling, and no compatibility issues with other add-ons. — Bilorv (talk) 16:47, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That is certainly above making a gadget, more like making a skin (or along whatever may become the tool for "dark mode". — xaosflux Talk 19:00, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe in the future it evolves in more colors that may be specific for certain "topics" but 2 is good in aiding reading. The colors chosen though should be very different from what we currently have on WikiTest because they do the complete opposite of that. :P - Klein Muçi (talk) 10:21, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, those were picked to be obnoxious and obvious - pick 2 new ones! — xaosflux Talk 23:03, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be better if the first choice was made by the proposer. Can't really remember who was though. :/ - Klein Muçi (talk) 02:13, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
