Video upload on Commons or YouTube[edit]

Could you please upload videos of the Conversation Hours to Commons and/or YouTube and advise the locations here? Thanks, Andreas JN466 12:53, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@FPutz (WMF): I would like to second Andreas's request, please. I really wanted to attend and would very much appreciate reviewing the video. New4Q (talk) 05:53, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @New4Qand @Jayen466. We had unfortunately not recorded the June round as these were our first ones ever. I am taking your feedback to heart and will try to record the July conversation hours. These will be on Thursday, July 28. All times will be updated on our Meta page (this is also where we will release recordings): https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Public_policy/Conversation_hours_and_Events
Hope to see you there! FPutz (WMF) (talk) 14:33, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
UPDATE: We will now be recording our sessions, starting with the call at the end of August. FPutz (WMF) (talk) 20:31, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We need feedback! End of pilot programme.[edit]

These conversation hours end after October. This series has been a pilot programme to explore how our team can create a space to regularly share updates and learn from affiliates and volunteers. We want to improve how we do this in 2023.
What can we do better? For example...

  • Are regular calls a useful way to interact?
  • How frequent should these calls be?
  • How can we improve the timezones in which regular calls are held?
  • Should there be a regional focus to calls?
  • How can we provide translation support?
  • How was the format of these calls (1/2 presentation, 1/2 discussion)?
  • Who should run these calls? Should it always be WMF staff? Should we rotate between staff, affiliates, and volunteers?
  • How can we collaboratively set the topics that will be discussed in advance? What can be done to encourage more folks to add items to the agenda?
  • What platforms and channels should we use to communicate information about the calls?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. FPutz (WMF) (talk) 09:59, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Help with translation tags?[edit]

Hey @Pols12 I noticed you helped mark this page for translation. Thank you! Unfortunately I'm quite out of my depths as I'm still learning how to edit Wikis. Do you have any advice on how I might address an issue that I am encountering? I want to invert the sections on this page, so that the section titled "other upcoming events" is at the top of the page, and comes before "conversation hours"....but when I flip the order, all of the translation tags are messed up. The alert that I see is, "Nested TRANSLATE translation units are not allowed" and the tag text is the translate right before the section title of "other upcoming events." How can I fix this? Grateful for any advice you have! ~~ FPutz (WMF) (talk) 15:59, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • While moving some translatable content, you need to ensure the unit marker (<!--T:xx-->) remains along with its matching paragraph.
  • Besides, each translatable content must remain inside a pair of <translate> tag. But there cannot be translate tag inside translate tag. So you should ensure to move an opening <translate> tag after a closing one or before any opening one (or to manually close it before, but you should probably then reopen it for the next content).
In that case, I have moved the section before first opening translate tag. You can of course adjust for your needs.
I hope that helps. 🙂 -- Pols12 (talk) 21:29, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
