Talk:Growing Local Language Content on Wikipedia (Project Tiger 2.0)/Writing Contest/Topics/List of articles each Indian language Wikipedia should have

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Dear Organisers, I find a lot of lists on this page, like "List of all GyanpeeTh laureates", "List of Sahitya academy Winners", "List of all presidents", "List of all official languages", "List of universities" etc. I feel, just having lists would not do. We should have separated articles on those individuals and institutions in all Indian languages .

For example, having a list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sahitya_Akademi_Award_winners_for_Odia is good, but not all of them have articles on them. We should have these for all languages and in all languages . --Hellohappy (talk) 10:08, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Hellohappy:Thank you for bringing out this point. It will not be good if we include/create only the list of articles. As only the list may not add any value to the Wikipedia but the decision is left for the respective language community.--Ananth (CIS-A2K) (talk) 14:51, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ananth (CIS-A2K): so the articles mentioned under these list can also be created for the project tiger 2.0 competition isn't it ? -- Balajijagadesh (talk) 16:28, 25 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Balajijagadesh: The actual process of curation of the pan India article list was to vote in here from the community members and finalise the pan India list. This was notified to the community over the village pump but voting did not happen and the list was not finalised. --Ananth (CIS-A2K) (talk) 11:33, 31 October 2019 (UTC) [reply]
@Ananth (CIS-A2K): : We should have those in the common pool of articles, otherwise why would a Telugu wikipedian write about any writers from Odisha and vice versa . And you would appreciate the fact that, writing about Writers, Scientist, Sportsmen, Books, Place of Importance from other states/ Languages would be of great value to our India Language Wikipedias .--Hellohappy (talk) 04:38, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hellohappy: Yes, I do agree that it should be in the common pool, with the same intention we had asked the community to curate list as per their requirements but unfortunately, the list was not finalised. --Ananth (CIS-A2K) (talk) 11:33, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Indian railway station[edit]

7000+ railway stations in India. But most of Indian-language Wikipedia's do not have many more articles on railway stations.. So, I am requesting to add "List of Indian Railway Stations" to the List of articles each Indian language Wikipedia should have. As a result, articles of railway stations can be created in this article contest...................::@Ananth (CIS-A2K):.............................. খাঁ শুভেন্দু (talk) 08:20, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@খাঁ শুভেন্দু:Thank you for bringing up this point. This is a very good idea, but the last date to finalise the list of the article to be created under Project Tiger writing contest was 30 September 2019. So we can't modify the list now. --Ananth (CIS-A2K) (talk) 11:04, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
