Talk:Scheduled attendance for Wikinews or Commons

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

New idea[edit]

This is still a new idea, we'd like input from other-language wikinews sites as well. Also, my French translation is a bit crappy.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Talk) 22:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The first few times I read this page, its purpose was not very clear to me. I thought it was for people going to represent Wikinews and/or Wikimedia Commons at conventions instead of being a reporter and/or photographer. --Benn Newman 22:24, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Press Corps[edit]

Can we please merge this with the older Press Corps page that has many interested people listed, along with their gear and areas of interest ? I like the old format better, perhaps because I designed it :), but would be glad to help with a merge. I definitely like a shorter name better, since it is much clearer (the specificity of 'Wikinews or Commons' may actually not be helpful, since anyone may be planning to attend an event for any project in order to get photos; I would guess that Wikipedians are the most numerous event-attenders). -- -- sj | help translate |+

I am abstain to merger; as for names, I prefer rather the longer one. It is clearer for me as non-native speaker due to its descriptive feature. "Corps" is not a part of my basic vocabrary and hence a bit unclear. You needn't care for that point, if you are oriented to team up English editors, though (also compare Transbabel with its official name). Or you could keep "Press Corps" as abbraviation & redirect and let people to decide which they prefer? --Aphaia 06:40, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree this seems like a good idea, I'll ask some other comments back on Wikinews.--Steven Fruitsmaak (Talk) 00:37, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since there hasn't been much activity here at all, and the other is being listed as obsolete, I am inclined to merge and try to revive interest in use. -- sj | help translate |+ 16:12, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
