Simplification[edit]

Given that we never get translations for all relevant languages, I fear that sentences like "We are currently experiencing compromises of privileged wiki accounts by an unknown and unauthorized third party" might be a bit tricky to understand for en-2 users. When I run it through Google Translate to my native language, it tells me that an unknown and unauthorized third party is trying to find a compromise with privileged wiki accounts. I'd suggest simplifying the language in the first and third item somewhat (but definitely not invalidating existing translations when updating). Something like this maybe?

"We are having a problem with attackers taking over wiki accounts with privileged user rights (admins, bureaucrats, oversighters, checkusers). This looks like it would be because of weak or reused passwords."

"In the meantime, we ask that everyone takes a look at the passwords they have chosen for their wiki accounts. If you know that you've chosen a weak password, or if you've chosen a password that you are using somewhere else, please change those passwords." /Johan (WMF) (talk) 06:18, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Find a compromise as in reaching an agreement, that is. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 06:27, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Johan - I've made some tweaks. See what you think. Joe Sutherland (WMF) (talk) 06:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think that should be easier to understand and/or run through automatic translation. Sounds a bit more clumsy, of course, but I think more people will get the point. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 06:31, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why don’t automatically sent us the email notification or sms for each login Jinz26c (talk) 13:18, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reset password global user Tomsky2015[edit]

Hello, I had an account on wiki called Tomsky2015. I think I forget my password or someone change it. I didn't have, I think, email for my user. Do I need open a new account? Best. 45.80.90.23 13:46, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In general, you should be able to use password reset to request a new password be sent to your email. If you never sent an email, there is no official recovery, so you can just register a new account. — xaosflux Talk 14:12, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki - wrong password[edit]

I'm not sure if it's because the time I'm going through but my password in wiki sometime appears as wrong one. Even when I received email to change it. Some passwords of my my other users aren't work any more. I less care about it because they are simple one and can open new one. Just write it if you see any change which is not need to be.
