Talk:Stewards/elections 2011-2/votes/Teles

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

It is so sad that ptwiki politics is preventing a great user from becoming a steward. It is even more sad to see users who aren't from ptwiki opposing per the unfounded arguments that have been put forward by the people from ptwiki who, quite honestly, are opposing most likely because they don't like Teles. It is painfully obvious that the ptwiki opposers are opposing Teles as a person and not a candidate - they are not opposing other candidates like Trijnstel, Wikitanvir and Axpde (all of whom supported Ruy on his request for global rollback and local RfA here on meta). Teles is no more Ruy's friend than any of the other people who supported him on those two requests, and as I said above it is really sad to see drama from one wiki encompass the global Wikimedia community. Just something that I felt needed saying. Ajraddatz (Talk) 03:42, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, I'm from ptwiki and I voted for Teles. IMHO, this whole mess should end if someone do something about the case pointed out first by @lestaty in his vote's comment (this one). Privacy issues should be taken more seriously and if, as it's plainly obvious, our local community can't (or won't) do something, someone should. If you look closely, many of the votes against Teles from ptwiki (not all) are from people that felt abused in this case (GRS73, MachoCarioca, JSSX). Others came from people that by no means are "active" there anymore (some being active in other projects). And I think this case will continue to be a hindrance to any pt user trying to gain any sort of access to personal information (like steward ou checkuser status). This case also completely demoralized our local ArbCom. That alone should be reason enough to those interested in such status to work actively in closing the case once and for all. And those who stand accused can be free of this stain if found not guilty.
And if the case is moot and no doubt remains about the accusations, I'm happy to help with translation issues if that's what's needed do close it once and for all. Since we are now without an ArbCom and checkusers, I think there's room for some action... But that's only my opinion, of course. José Luiz talk 10:26, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
