Red link[edit]

There's a red link in one of the items. That's OK: the documentation isn't up yet, but will be by the time it is sent out to the wikis on Mondays. Since we're using <tvar>, the new link will work for translations that have been done before it is added, too, though I will of course go through all of them and make any necessary fixes prior to sending out the newsletter. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 19:24, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Johan (WMF): Will the feature be opt-in or opt-out? Knowing it would help creating more naturally sounding translations (instead of “if the user wants them”, it could be “you’ll be able to turn it off” or “you’ll have to explicitly enable it” or even “you’ll be asked whether you’d like to use it”), and more information would be beneficial for Tech News readers as well. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 22:01, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Tacsipacsi: Good question, but development hasn't come far enough yet for me to be able to answer, unfortunately – this is still months away. I'll make sure we'll clarify closer to the date. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 22:40, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
