MediaWiki version[edit]

Hi @Johan (WMF). Something weird with this. Shouldn't be the link to wmf.14 in recent changes with the usual text about the last week deployment, and in later this week section a link to wmf.15 instead? IKhitron (talk) 15:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Right, a week passed us by. Updated the existing item. Thanks! I'll leave out last week's train – I see one of the main functions as reminding people when it hits their wiki so they know when to expect the updates, and there wasn't too much in last week's train anyway, as far as I can tell. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 17:46, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, @Johan (WMF), I think it's a bad idea, but you are the boss. You are welcome. About the new item, should it be "were" instead of "was"? IKhitron (talk) 18:08, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Did the copy edit. If you think it's a bad idea, you should tell why. Ordinary users really don't care about the version, but the impact. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 18:25, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IKhitron: I'm completely dependent on the corrections and good initiatives from everyone else, though, so I'm always happy to listen to the arguments. It's a wiki, and I'm not here to do this alone. (: /Johan (WMF) (talk) 18:34, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I think the readers trust on the news that all the versions are mentioned. If there is nothing about this, it's like we say that there was no version last week at all. IKhitron (talk) 20:10, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IKhitron: Ah, as an indication that there was a new version with some changes last week, rather than the exact definition of it. That's a good argument. We've frozen the newsletter now, but I'll remember that the next time. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 22:01, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You can still do it now, @Johan (WMF). There is no need in a new translation, just to take a dozen old ones from the last time there wasn't news issue. Even I can do it. IKhitron (talk) 22:04, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That was a good suggestion, but Tech/News/2021/16 (which was the best phrasing I could find for a copy'n'paste) is lacking a number of languages we have this week. But I've taken note of your point for the future, it's a good argument. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 15:21, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And the newsletter would have been better if I would have thought of it myself. (: /Johan (WMF) (talk) 15:21, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, there is always next week. IKhitron (talk) 15:32, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
