Svg[edit]

Hi. Maybe we should inform today about the problem that avoids uploading new versions of svg files. IKhitron (talk) 19:08, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Quiddity. IKhitron (talk) 19:09, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
What problem is that? Links almost always help! Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 20:22, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well, looks it's too late now. I didn't expect this, but couldn't be back earlier. I have no idea about the link, otherwise I would give it in the first place. Something between phab:T330942, phab:T333042, phab:T334303, or all of them. IKhitron (talk) 01:01, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Quiddity, looks like it will fit to the next one too. IKhitron (talk) 11:57, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Captions in galleries[edit]

Can someone (@Quiddity?) explain what used to have to be done to achieve the same thing? I don’t use the visual editor and even after trying to switch to the visual editor to try inserting a gallery I’m having a hard time understanding what this new feature is about.

Specifically, what does “opening the galleries dialog” mean? Opening the Galleries dialog from Insert seems to be the only way to insert a gallery. (I tried inserting a single image; there doesn’t seem to be a way to change it into a gallery.)

I also tried inserting a gallery first, then trying to edit. Contrary to what the wishlist item says, pressing Edit brings up the galleries dialog. So I’m very confused as to what the news item is supposed to convey. Thanks. Al12si (talk) 02:22, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Previously, to change an image caption within a gallery (e.g., to fix a typo), you had to click Edit to open the dialog, then select the appropriate image and then change the text of the caption. Now you can just click on the caption and edit it, without opening an dialog. --Matěj Suchánek (talk) 07:32, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Is this a change that’s still to come, or is this affecting only a few Wikipedias? I tried this on my home wiki and on the French Wikipedia but on both if I try to change a caption in a gallery it brings up a dialog. Do you know which Wikipedias have this enabled? Thanks. n/m. Figured it out. This is really unintuitive, what we in design call “hidden affordances”; you can’t see it, you have to know it’s there. Al12si (talk) 18:40, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
