How to install inkscape in chrome book?

[edit]

Request : Kindly get my context not care of my words bcoz there is no role of English language in my way of life. Only my mother tongue is convenient for me. If anything wrong in my way of communication, excuse and inform me please.

Hello! I am from Tamil Community ( My SUL, My bots:TamilBOT-SUL, Info-farmerBot-SUL, My efforts in code, My efforts in SVG .)

Hope you all well. As a Freedom software enthusiast, i never use Proprietary_software like 'Windows' or Commercial software like Macintosh. I found in many India meet-up like now that fellow contributors not using simple open software tools or Unix commands. if they use, they can do many contributions well as a simple procedures and they can avoid tedious manual work. I am writing some documents s along with screen casts. I am not Linux geek but i usally in the habit of learning what i need. Few of my friend asking, how to get ride of restrictions Of Chrome book. I am having very much interest to solve those issues. But i have no chrome book. Is there any body using AWB, Commonist, or windows based mass uploader or FOSS tools? Is there any body, installed inkscape in your "gifted" Chrome book.--Info-farmer (talk) 11:42, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I tried downloading Inkscape on my Chrome book but the setup wasn't compatible with chromebook. The only option was to use the online chrome extension. It would be really nice if someone can help with this. --Shypoetess (talk) 12:49, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Info-farmer Thankyou sir for posting the issue of installation of Inkscape in Chromebook. I have installed Chrome extension of Inkscape in my Chromebook. But the issue I faced is that, the page is lagging too much and the app is getting hang with lots of ads showing. I have also tried using the app through Rollapp. But it's also lagging and it is a paid service. So when i googld the graphic design apps for Chromebook i got an app name Pixlr and Vectr. I am using Pixlr and Vectr app which is available in Chromebook from last few months. In Pixlr there is no option for saving graphic in SVG formats, but Vectr does. But Vectr have less tools compared to Pixlr. So currently am using both the apps in together to create graphics. I think Inkspace has more tools available for editing. If someone can help with this issue it would be easy for all of us who are using Chromebook and want to install Inkspace. -Jinoytommanjaly (talk) 13:49, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Jinoytommanjaly: Pls, avoid these (//Thankyou sir//) words. I told that i can solve this issue but i have no chrome book.I am planning to meet Moorthy (SUL), a TN govt senior Treasury officer, now buzy with auditing in all the districts. So, give me some time. For the time being, use your friend's machine. I will be in touch. Let us learn; then only the meet-up will be more gainful. --Info-farmer (talk) 14:53, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Info-farmer Yup. Waiting for the training sections. --Jinoytommanjaly (talk) 16:59, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Program Details

[edit]

Hello.

I'm a biologist and have no knowledge of designing and it's terminology. Therefore, I can't understand most of the program. It would really help if the topics were connected to relevant Wikipedia or non-Wikipedia pages for us to study as I don't think it would be easy to take part in a practical session (online or offline) without at least an elementary knowledge of the subject. Thanks in advance. --Shypoetess (talk) 13:27, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Basically I was also Biology student. When i come to wiki, i never used computer. So, don't worry. This is a first historical event focusing on a particular training. So it will be more useful. I think i will share few basic screencasts. Rest in person.Happy learning. --Info-farmer (talk) 15:05, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Shyamal, Saumyaanaidu, and Mahesh Iyer: Please see if this can be done. Regards, KCVelaga (talkmail) 17:45, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Topics - Theory & Practical

[edit]

I am not aware much about the graphics and designing, yet from topics enumerated i guess that majority of online session's topics are theory based. For topics based on theory, if any write up is available, it could be of use. (This will also solve the problem of failure to reach out due to poor net connection / speed etc. if any)--Sushant savla (talk) 15:58, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Sushant savla: Considering these factors, all the online sessions will be recorded for later use. Also we'll share a 1–2 page reading material before the session. Regards, KCVelaga (talkmail) 17:38, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion - Teaming up

[edit]

The graphics field has many variants Viz. Physics, Biology, Chemistry Diagrams, Maps, architecture, Transportation, Space etc. Participants have variety of inclination / liking / interests in specific areas of graphics. So it will be good to idea to know which filed particular participant is interested in. Further down the line the same interest group may form small team to explore further possibilities and may work ahead in organized way. --Sushant savla (talk) 16:06, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

That will be a good idea. A group work will be more useful for us to learn and design graphics based on the field of interest. --Jinoytommanjaly (talk) 17:16, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
That's a good idea Sushant. Regards, KCVelaga (talkmail) 17:44, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
That's a very good idea indeed, specific domain will create more interest to learn and to explore. Regards, Rajeeb Dutta (talk) 06:43, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Assignments/Tasks?

[edit]

In order to have a better out come, small assignments can be planned as a pre-work to session or post-work. --Sushant savla (talk) 16:11, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Sushant savla: Small assignments will be given post each online session. Regards, KCVelaga (talkmail) 17:45, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Can you give us something to watch?

[edit]

Hi all, I've been a journalist, and at last count spent a decade in publishing. Art is not my field, but I have used (at an elementary level) some of the softwares being spoken about. Before we meet up to discuss, could you share with us some background videos (say, on YouTube) that we could watch, to get a better understanding of the issues involved? Many thanks! Fredericknoronha (talk) 19:29, 20 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Shyamal, Saumyaanaidu, and Mahesh Iyer: Requesting to take a look at this. Regards, KCVelaga (talkmail) 17:47, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Fredericknoronha: - there really is too much - search YouTube for Inkscape - would make much of this workshop redundant but hopefully the actual hands-on workshop will offer a more coherent framework. Shyamal (talk) 04:26, 26 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Just trying to build a list of watchable stuff for myself, and anyone else intersted

[edit]

Some of this might be off-track so don't be mislead!

Pre -Work

[edit]

As we all are interested in using this for our own fields, and some of us are beginners. Would you be able to please collaborate each learner with somebody who as of now has essential information, so we are all on a similar level when the training begins. Likewise, would we be able to present our interests regarding what we wish to learn in this event?-Manavpreet Kaur (talk) 07:05, 21 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

That's a good point, Doctor! Fredericknoronha (talk) 12:05, 24 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
