Hi..Shyamal..Please help me by redrawing and modifying logo I submitted for wikivoyage. I do not have computer now and can only use mobile app to draw. You may redraw and color them which may improve its appeal. Option 35 kite and 36 shoe mark i submitted by poorly drawing them in mobile app or hand drawn. Wikivoyage logo final submission
Hi. :) We're getting ready to go into the first round of voting, and - as you can see here - there are currently multiple designs by you that will be voted on. This is perfectly fine if that's what you choose. There is some concern, however, that close variants of a design may "split the vote", since people only have three choices, so that you could have more voters across your designs but less for any one and thus not be selected. If yours is one of the top three usable designs, there's an opportunity to submit variants to select the best after the first round of voting. I wanted to ask you, given that, if you'd like to narrow down your submission, perhaps taking into account any feedback it received at Wikivoyage/Logo_2013/Submissions#Option_15_-_Feet? If so, can you either please remove the others from Wikivoyage/Logo/2013/R1/Gallery or make a note at Talk:Wikivoyage/Logo/2013/R1/Gallery that you'd like them removed before, say, 2300 today (25 July)? The vote is supposed to start tomorrow. If not, again, that's perfectly fine. :) It's entirely your choice.
your comments on WMIN FDC grant application
Shyamal, I will be responding in the FDC pages too. But thought a little more candid expressions can be used in a user talk page. Here are my thoughts.
- Lobbying: I guess US laws permit lobbying and Indian laws do not permit. WMF wants lobbying related work to be done in consultation with them. Hence they seek such a declaration etc. In India we do not do lobbying with funding for such purposes. It is more by appealing to the reasoning of people in authority. This involves meeting them, talking to them, etc. On NCERT related decision there was such appeal to reason. We can continue to do this. This will not conflict with the declaration. The EC member who worked on the NCERT related influence did it without any cost to WMF or WMIN. He happened to have access to the concerned people and used it to appeal to reason.
- GLAM detail: The reason this proposal is related to a Bangalore institution is because I am based here. It is less expensive to do a pilot work in the city where we have the resources. I could not understand the point, "it is located in Bangalore which has enough community members who can access it without any need for institutional support". I guess the pronoun 'it' refers to VITM. What has community's access to VITM got to do with creating a GLAM program aimed at improving awareness? I may not have understood your question. I had done some initial legwork in Feb 2013. Of all the GLAM institutions I had contacted, VITM seemed to be ready for a dialogue. Many others were not in a position to appreciate the benefit of a GLAM project in increasing footfalls, to their website or physical location. We were facing multiple barriers at a time. We also needed success stories, however limited their scope. VITM was envisaged as a pilot for GLAM work, wherein the barrier of article creation is much reduced. As you rightly point out, a huge number of scientific principles will be covered in Wikipedia. The idea is 2 fold: (i) if there are visitors of VITM who have not used wikipedia, create an interest in them to refer to Wikipedia. VITM does get foot falls, and this can help spread awareness. (ii) by show casing a QR code based system of viewing articles in mobiles, spread mobile application, create a bit of excitement with new access technologies, while side stepping any barrier in having to create a large number of new articles. After doing these, we can talk about them to other GLAM institutions. I agree the primary objective of a mature GLAM program should be to bring a lot of new articles. The approach described is more focussed on generating a case study, for reference to other GLAM institutions. Everyone wants to see a pilot done successfully elsewhere before they open up their institution. So in an organization's history initial projects may be simpler low hanging fruits, helping us to graduate to greater objectives in due course.
- Poor sourcing: I am with you on the subject of improving sourcing references. It would be a good idea to generate a free access to various libraries for Wikimedians, so that they can do more references. To bring a pool of Librarians who can help, as shown in the link sent by you, would also be a good idea. The proposal for newspaper related digitization was a proposal from the community. To that extent, we took that forward. As a chapter we were also more interested in implementing a digitization project to gain a lot of experience from such an effort. Again, the idea is to do some thing which has less barriers on some fronts, so that all dimensions of a project's initial development do not become barriers at the same time.

Edit Activity Graphs
I've made some new graphs visualizing the entire edit activity of a wiki - https://cosmiclattes.github.io/wikigraphs/data/wikis.html. I'm documenting work at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Editor_Behaviour_Analysis_%26_Graphs.
I've also put down some of the preliminary inferences regarding editor activity on en. Each graph has a selector on top of the page that allows you to filter it. On taking the cursor to the left end of the selector you'll get a resize cursor, you should then be able to redraw/drag the selection.

- @Jeph paul: - I looked at "longevity" and I am not sure if I got the right thing without proper labels. I see from what your aims are and have assumed as follows. The column of months along the left margin represent the months in which editors joined and the shades of grey along their row are the fraction of editors who continued to be active till that end date (as shown on the top margins, would be easier if it was labelled). The range selector (not easy to tell what the affordances of that are - better to start with a certain smaller selection filter so that the selection colour and non-selected colours become evident, also the end bars could be shaded with some kind of "grip" symbols) at the top is the number of days of activity and so you cannot say anything until a certain number of days of activity are done.
Assuming this is right, I wonder if decay is represented with lines/ curves (with join-date range filters) as it can be more accurate to read than grey-shades. If I have interpreted it right my impression from this is that the asymptotic retention rates are near constant over time and that early adopters were the only ones who have stuck on for long (but that might just be a characterization of early adopters). But I am wondering if we are missing another dimension which is the quantum of edits (byte additions?) during that period. Shyamal (talk) 06:02, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
- The left margin is the month of first edit/joining. Editors are grouped based on their month of first edit. The top margin is month since beginning of the wiki. The rows are the fractions. The range selector lets you filter by fractions, 5% - 20%, 5% - 100% etc. "at the top is the number of days of activity and so you cannot say anything until a certain number of days of activity are done. " - I didn't get this. If an editor has made more than 5 edits a month at any point it is recorded in the graph. (edits >= 5 is considered active & the graph counts the number of active editor/active edit sessions.)
- An issue with using lines is that they could get discontinuous. The grips are a good idea, in fact I had used them in the replay tool. I'll add them here.
- The shift from long retention to shorter periods happened over a year, quite abrupt in my opinion. Also, comparing longevity/ retention for en with de, de seems to have longer retention. I've added the data for a few more wiki. I have explored quantum of edits added, its on my todo. Btw did you get to check out graphs 4,5? From them it looks like the biggest chunk of activity comes from the new comers in a month. --Jeph paul (talk) 06:08, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

- Nominations are extended until 12 January 2018.
- Candidates will be lightly vetted by the Founding Members (excluding those who are candidates) to help form a well-functioning committee.

- Voting will begin on the 22nd of January and end on the 4th of February.
