Web Creation Award for Japanese Wikipedia: The special prize awarded by Web Advertising Bureau in Japan Advertisers Association which is the Association of biggest marketing offices and mass media in Japan
The Award is principally given for individuals who has achived great contribution on the World Wide Web in Japanese although, Wikipedia's activities impressed the judging committee of the Award, and made them honor Wikipedia with a exceptionally given special prize. The ceremony was held on September 9 in Tokyo and two wikipedians attended who have contributed since the early days of Japanese Wikipedia and were also interviewed by judges in advance.

14 December 2005: The Italian Wikipedia has won two awards at the "Premio WWW" (Price WWW) organized by Il sole 24 ore. First award in the category "Education and Work" (... for being the new benchmark in Italy for online knowledge.), and a Special Award for "Internet Educational", assigned in collaboration with the italian Ministry of Technology and Innovation (... because it's a free encyclopedia, born from a collective intelligence that exalts the sharing of knowledge and its free access. Wikipedia is a source of information in constant change that allows to outpace the staticity of traditional paper encyclopedias, and is subjected to a constant work of monitoring/revision made by its users.

1 February 2006:Japanese Wikipedia has been awarded the 11th AMD Award, Digital Contents of the Year'05, Best Writer prize by Association of Media In Digital.

The Saatchi & Saatchi World Changing Ideas innovation contest [6] takes place every two years. The winner is awarded $100,000. Wikipedia was one of 15 finalists selected during the judging process in 2005.

The 100,000th file had been uploaded to our online repository of free images, sounds, and videos, the Wikimedia Commons. The award ceremony took place in Berlin on October 3, the German national holiday celebrating the country’s reunification in 1990. The award for Wikipedia was presented by David Weinberger and accepted by Jimmy Wales.
