Background[edit]

Several wars and conflicts have happened in history. Some activists stood for peace and unity in such times.

This project is focused on organising a virtual edit-a-thon on translating English Wikipedia articles on Peace Activists into the Igbo language.

At the time of this research, there are not enough articles on the topic in the Igbo language. Having articles written in the Igbo language about these Peace activists( Within Africa and the Western world) will be a big way of having these names recorded in the Igbo language.

Why is this Important to the Fan Club[edit]

This will help in contributing to the sum of knowledge in Igbo Language in order to make Peace Activists and Pacifists known to the reading populace. Also, it will focus on translating articles on Peace Activists in celebrating the International Day of Peace which was on September 21 by the members of the fan club.

During the Board of Trustee election, I discovered that few persons were eligible to vote because of low edits. Reason being that they have not engaged in editing after our very first edit-a-thon since February 2022.

Someone might ask why they don't join the mother group activities. They find it too competitive to meet up.

Organizing this online edit-a-thon will encourage them to learn and contribute more in a not too competitive environment. New editors who joined the fan club will equally gain from this.

Project Goal and Targets[edit]

The training kicks off on Saturday, 15th October 2022 via Google Meet. Number of expected participants is 25 to produce at least 100 created articles sources.

= Data Reimbursement and Prizes[edit]

The will be data reimbursement for participants who joined the training from beginning till the end. It will equally encourage them towards contribution during the contest.

Also, top three contributors gets prizes as gift voucher

  • First prize: N8000
  • Second Prize : N6000
  • Third Prize: N5000
