J. Nathan Matias (CivilServant account)
I use this account when contributing to Wikipedia in my capacity as founder of the CivilServant nonprofit, which does collaborative research on Wikipedia together with Wikipedians.
My personal account, which I have used for previous research projects, is at User:Rubberpaw.
As founder of CivilServant and as an academic researcher, I work alongside the public through citizen behavioral science to discover and test ideas for a safer, fairer, more understanding internet. I am currently an Associate Research Scholar in the Princeton University Psychology Department (Paluck Lab), Center for Information Technology, and Sociology. I am also a visiting scholar at the MIT Media Lab. I completed my PhD at the MIT Media Lab Center for Civic Media and my time as a fellow and affiliate at the Berkman Center at Harvard in 2017.
In July 2019, I am joining the Cornell University Department of Communication as an assistant professor.
In 2015, I organized a project on Meta to create a resource guide to research on online harassment and other content moderation questions. It's due an update, so contact me if you're interested (I can be found at email@example.com)
I am also an active contributor on AcaWiki, where I summarize academic publications for a public audience.
