Governance of Arabic Wikipedia[edit]

Would you be kind enough to allow me to ask a few questions here? Having been blocked indefinitely on Arabic Wikipedia with no note on my page but 'permanent vandal' as a comment leaves me no option but to talk to you here.--Azdiyy 09:43, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

you were blocked by another admin, not me. I've unblocked you and left a note on the blocker talk page, hoping he will clarify why he did this. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you. --Mido 12:09, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I think it tells a good deal when one admin can block a user indefinitely without giving a clear reason. If you want me to reply to your message there please unblock my ip without revealing it. Thanks--Azdiyy 17:45, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

and I think he did it in good faith and in my opinion now he had good reasons to do this, I don't want to get into this but your record of vandalism and bad faith actions towards new and old users is way too long to mention here or even in Arabic, the block admin posted to my talk page the reasons he has to block you and I posted it in the problems page[1] and invited all admins and community members to comment on the incident. Till now only one admin (User:MKay Whom you said is "a trustworthy person to ask" in your RFCU) replied and is saying that what the admin did was the right thing mentioning that you've been warned and blocked many times [2].
I put a notice in your talk page about this and you're welcome to reply there if you like, you're already unblocked. as for your IP, I don't know how you're not able to edit using your account. any more problems regarding your ability to edit only, email me or through IRC. --Mido 21:39, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
My ip is still blocked; I can't even edit my talk. Assuming good faith I would think that the unblocking was due to you noting the error of the blocking admin (providing no specific reason when blocking), not because of me posting above. Now if you think I deserve it please reblock the username asap. Many thanks. --Azdiyy 22:38, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Please do not try to unblock my account at ar wiki - I just need to ask you a few questions here. --Azdiyy 07:20, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User talk:Meno25[edit]

You are a genius[edit]

Your suggestion in Arabic Wikipedia here tells a lot about some admins there. I challenge you to translate what you have said there. If it's too long and you don't have enough time you can only translate the following.

Many thanks! --Azdiyy 23:24, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi. Although that Meta is not intended for discussion regarding blocks in local wikis, yet I will reply here. I think that arwiki admins are doing a great job. Yes they sometimes do some mistakes (as you know to err is human), but overall they are just fine. I can't help you you with Aram33's checkuser request. I am not a checkuser. Regarding your block, I wrote my comment about it in arwiki ANI page and all other admins have read it. I see no point in translating it here. I didn't block you but you were blocked for different reasons by several arwiki admins (Mido, Alnokta, HakeemD and TheEgyptian). You were engaged in edit wars, violated no personal attacks, civilty and don't bite the new comers. Please read this comment posted to you by Mido. It sums it up. Sorry, but I can't help you. Try contacting other admins. Thank you. --Meno25 02:52, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Red Herring[edit]

I beg to differ; meta is great for these discussions. i just feel sorry for indef blocked users who know nothing about it. i feel sorry you mix things up. i feel sorry when i get unblocked there to be blocked by another admin, while if i ask here to be blocked i get unblocked! i feel sorry all these 'new comers' you feel sorry about are 'administrative' sockpuppets. i feel sorry you won't run away by refusing to translate what you've said. mido undid theEgyptian's block, hakeemd reblocked after alnokta agreed there was no reason to block; it all adds to my honorable "record of vandalism and bad faith actions" to use mido's words. as for biting new real users, go deal with this issue if you are real. or bite and chew a red herring for civility's sake. --Azdiyy 13:08, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

translation of your wise words above[edit]

feel free to correct my translation of your words above. if you think i have quoted you out of context just add any relevant info.

the last sentence is also by you on the same page above.

يا مصري أنا أقدر نيتك الطيبة و لكن ينبغي أن يتم منع أزدي بالطريقة السليمة حتى لا تمنحه المبرر لكي يهاجم ويكيبيديا العربية في الميتا

As the only admin on both ar and en wikis, can i ask you whether the second indefinite ban is justified by any policy? i will be adding more about the corruption and cabalism of arabic admins here so feel free to comment or edit my contributions even if they are in my space. all this would have been avoided if you or one of the bold admins agreed to discuss these matters with me. --Azdiyy 19:26, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User talk:Shipmaster[edit]

ignore all rules, rather ignore me[edit]

i'd like to thank you for commenting on the second indef ban imposed by your colleague, user:TheEgyptian, and backed publicly only by you (so far). it's great pleasure to know today that the ignore all rules have been cited as justifying the ban [3]. wasn't strange that a user asked whether what my userpage says is real or just a joke? my advice to you is just to ignore me. otherwise you and all similarly-minded admins running the show at arabic wiki may be found out to be just fools. --Azdiyy 14:01, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You are welcome --Shipmaster 15:48, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User talk:TheEgyptian[edit]

what is consensus?[edit]

as i am now idefinitely banned in arabic wiki, i thought it'd be nice to thank you here. you banned me for 3RR tho it's only 2, you blocked me indef but user:Meno25, appreciating your good faith, told you your action was wrong and could give ar wi admins a bad name here, and again, blocking me indef with no policy violation on my part, your friend, user:Shipmaster, relied on ignore all rules to justify your stance. as arabic wiki has now officially 17 admins, could you please tell me what admins, other than you two, agreed to my ban? --Azdiyy 16:51, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Admins consensus[edit]

You're welcome. All 17 ar. wikipedia admins agreed to the ban, that no one wish to revert it. Thank you.--TheEgyptian 01:42, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

considering your admirable acquintance with policies, i fear you are being taken for a ride. can you get 7 other admins (out of the official 17) to agree with your action publicly (almost 50%)? there are many who see no point in arguing with someone like you or getting into a wheel war. you may remember that Mido undid you first indef ban on me, which was supported publicly by one other admin only. --Azdiyy 21:30, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User talk:MKay[edit]

the subject is: Azdiyy indef ban on arabic wikipedia.

The ban[edit]

Hello MKay, when a colleague enquired about what my ar userpage says, sysop user:Shipmaster made a reference to ignore all rules. i have asked admin user:TheEgyptian to get a few other sysops to agree publicly with the ban to no avail. do you think the ban is justified by any policy in arabic, english or other wikipedia? if you don't want to get involved, can you request a discussion of this unprecedented ban (better here as i am banned there)? many thanks. --Azdiyy 12:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Salam. I don't want to annoy you with this, but your issue has finished. Yes, what you have been doing was wrong. In the English Wikipedia, that is called "trolling". If you were doing the same there, you would have been blocked in the first week. We ignored you for months, but you have never changed. You did many unacceptable things that you deserve to be blocked for (well, you've already been block for at least 6 times).
Annoying other Wikipedians is not a game to play. We are serious people who want to build a real encyclopedia. If you are not interested in writing or improving any articles, then nobody wants to hear from you. In the last few weeks you have been a pain in the neck. All what you did was watching the recent changes and randomly comment and/or annoy others. In addition, you have been accusing others of sockpuppetry without good evidence. You have even annoyed the new group of users (who later appeared to be students from a single university) and accused all of them to be sockpuppets while they are not. Excuse me, but that is simply unacceptable.
I am sorry for this, but I have nothing else to say. If you think that we are wrong, tell Jimmy Wales. --MK 14:51, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi Mohammed, and thanks for the quick answer. i hope you reconsider your position regarding this discussion - hearing one side of the argument may not give you the full picture. and getting banned with no chance on arabic wiki to clarify my pov does not help either. i think some arab admins are too prejudiced that they don't want to adopt a mediation policy just because it was translated by me, not to give many more examples to let you know that i am not here or there for trolling. accusing is easy, what matters is proving. regarding sockpuppets, it was your friend, the arbcom member, who raised the issue. as for me, i just put it as a question/suspicion - no definite statements, no personal attacks against that army, not to mention copyvio on their part. you are free to hate/unaccept the way i do things, what i am asking for is a discussion and justifying policy. i know many users/even admins who are not happy with the way some of you behave, nor with the ban. you don't know how intimidating some of your 'we' can be when chaos says he will drink coffee at my funeral, when TheEgyptian votes for a ban policy saying 'we will miss you, azdiyy'. would you loose much if you ask the community to discuss the matter, rather than suggesting i contact Jimmy Wales? admins should remember that ar wi does not belong to them, and that one cannot ban relying on ignore all rules. i appreciate you want to improve ar wiki, but banning one without a good reason is not the way imo. thank you. --Azdiyy 16:25, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
First of all, I don't consider any Wikipedian as a friend. I work based on the Wikimedia policies. I don't treat X as a friend and Y as an enemy. Second of all, I think you know that Chaos is no longer an administrator (and the reason was probably you).
You have been banned after some discussions. Yes, we lack some policies because the Arabic Wikipedia project is relatively small, but this doesn't mean there are no rules -- the main Wikimedia policies (those applied in the English Wikipedia for instance) are also considered acceptable policies in the Arabic Wikipedia. That means admins have the right to ban trolls if they think that the trolls cause many troubles to the Wikipedia community and/or its articles. The other policy you translated (which is good by the way) is not the only one that has not adopted (...yet). Sooner or later a voting for it will start (even after your ban). But did you nominate it? No, you didn't. You shouldn't complain then.
Sorry I didn't get what you mean by "your friend", but since you started it, what do you call this? "Category:Wikipedia jokes"? So you consider what we say a joke? And you still think trolling for some months is not a good reason for the ban? I'm not starting another discussion over there. In my opinion, what TheEgyptian did is correct (at least according to the English Wikipedia).
One last thing. While I'm not here to defend what you call "my friends", Shafei's issue that you talked about to someone else is almost one year old. Both of those who had the CheckUser ability (Chaos and Tarawneh) are no longer admins. Shafei is a former Wikipedian, and he already started his own wiki project by stealing all materials from our Wikipedia without refering to it. I just wanted to bring that to your attention. Take care. --MK 18:49, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
you can't blame me for someone else alleged mistakes - these discussions we should have had before the ban. even banning a troll is not that simple. have you read the first two lines here? i've asked you personally to be a medcom member, and suggested medcom for voting to get some interest. i still wonder why ar wi has an arbcom but neither medcom nor dispute resolution. i will try to help regardless of my ban. imo it's a joke to be referred to arbcom for removing a deletion tag, still this is no reason for indef ban. have a look here. and what discussions are you talking about? i see nothing on ar wiki. am i not allowed to comment on your secret delibrations and accusations? do you think arabic wiki is a 10-person club who can secretly plot and block? what do you mean by the word community? if you allow a real discussion you will know that only a minority wants me out. please read en:Wikipedia:Consensus, Polls are evil, and en:WP:BAN#Community ban which says
Community bans must be supported by a strong consensus and should never be enacted based on agreement between a handful of admins or users.
Many thanks. --Azdiyy 19:59, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User talk:Guillom[edit]

collected diffs[edit]

Hi Guillom, as promised, here are my collected evidence, I also had a long talk with Effeietsanders, you can contact him if you want to know anything about the user's situation.

  • user was banned indef on for trolling, as soon as he was, he moved all his stuff to meta, then he posted to 5 admin pages about his ban, here (calling us fools), here, here ,here and here ,when some admins ignored him he added wiki break notice to their pages here and here (If they didnt answer me they must be on wikibreak).
  • User is infatuated with sockpuppets, he keeps long lists of supposed sockpuppets, and moved off his unsubstantiated list of people he keeps tabs on here. He also accused users on meta as he no longer can do that on here and here.

diffs make no difference[edit]

if what you're saying is good, i should be banned here. i think Guillom is interested in knowing the reason of my ban, i.e., what happened in ar wi to justify it. what policy other than ignore all rules? --Azdiyy 22:56, 20 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

CheckUser abuse[edit]

Please forward the User:Azdiyy/checkuser to the Ombudsman committee, the removal of access section of the Requests for permission page, or just drop the issue and delete the page per the CheckUser policy. Cbrown1023 talk 15:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • you've been doing a great work at arabic wiki recently. i just wanted to say thank you! --Azdiyy 16:32, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you very much ;) ! Cordialy, EDUCA33E 16:37, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ok, you have done nothing but harassing people and trolling on this wiki. You are now blocked from editing here. If you have complaints about ar:wp users, complain on ar:wp. Meta is not a playground. guillom 09:51, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
