Major problem at Wikispecies
[edit]We have a major problem with aggressive territoriality at Wikispecies. Local governance has broken down completely. Certain editors (with the backing of our only active crat) are forcing other editors away (they even forced away from the site the only other active and impartial crat) in order to restrict edit access to parts of the site. I have just been blocked for one day (no doubt just the start of incremental blocks) for reasons which make no sense whatsoever. Stewards won't get involved as they don't understand that local governance has broken down completely. All I want is definite rules that everyone has to follow. Currently the rules are being made up as we go along. Uninvolved admins are ducking for cover and do not want to put themselves in the firing line. Surely, there must be someone who can glance at the stated reasons for my block and make an objective evaluation? It would only take a minute to see how unjustified the block is Stho002 (talk) 02:30, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
Re: FileViewer
[edit]Thanks for [1]; can you clarify why special software is needed to open formats such as PPM, that any image viewer is able to display in GNU/Linux? Is the tool meant for users of inferior OS such as Windows? Nemo 13:22, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, regarding inferior OSes. Also, FileViewer is designed to be easily extended to support even more obscure formats that aren't supported on any OS. It can also extract metadata from files that wouldn't otherwise be viewable easily. DBrant (WMF) (talk) 13:32, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
The Community Wishlist Survey
[edit]Hi,
You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.
You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:25, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
