Wikidata mailing lists

[edit]

Hi Denny,

This change confuses me. What is the difference between the old and the new mailing list and why does Wikidata/Introduction still links to the old one? --Spischot (talk) 10:58, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

There should be only the wikidata-l list. The list called wikidata was an error. Introduction still linked to the old one because I missed to update that page. It is updated now, too. All members of wikidata should have been migrated to wikidata-l. In short: there is only -l, the wikidata list does not exist anymore. I hope this clears it up. --Denny Vrandečić (WMDE) (talk) 11:02, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I fixed it in the german and netherlands translations, too. Cheers. --Spischot (talk) 11:35, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thank you!--Denny Vrandečić (WMDE) (talk) 12:39, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata and infoboxes

[edit]

Hello, Dr. Vrandečić. On Spanish Wikipedia we are aware of Wikidata, and we are very excited about it, waiting to contribute to this project.

Although, we have a question. On Spanish Wikipedia, we are planning to vote about massive editions to the Infoboxes templates, but we do not know if that would be useless once Wikidata starts. The question is: Will the infoboxes be transfered directly from Wikidata, or just their data? Thank you in advance. Allan Aguilartalk23:51, 30 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Allan! I didn't see your question before, sorry. Our plan is to just transfer the data, not the whole infoboxes. Thanks for the question! --Denny Vrandečić (WMDE) (talk) 08:31, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata logo proposal

[edit]

Neat concept with the QR code! But the QR code doesn't seem to match either wikidata, Wikidata or WikiData... am I missing something? --Waldir (talk) 21:19, 19 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! It should be a the QR code for the URL http://wikidata.org - and it works with a number of tested QR scanners. (Though note that the URL currently still points to en.wikipedia.org) --Denny Vrandečić (WMDE) (talk) 08:30, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
I was having trouble generating the same code with Wolfram Alpha: even though I was giving the same input and readers could extract the same data, the image looked different. After some digging I realized it was the error correction level (WA used the level L by default, and the version you uploaded had level Q). I updated the description of the image with this information. Cheers, Waldir (talk) 10:12, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Waldir! I didn't even know that much about QR codes. As usual, it is more complicated than it seems. :) --Denny Vrandečić (WMDE) (talk) 10:23, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Neither did I, that's what got me stumped in the first place :) I enjoyed learning a little about them. Anyway, good luck in the contest, your logo is one of the ones I'll be rooting for! --Waldir (talk) 12:17, 20 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Access to vote

[edit]

Dear Denny Vrandečić, I was looking at the vote for a Wikidata logo. I think the subpages of User:Denny Vrandečić (WMDE)/Logo voting might be difficult to reach, especially for unexperienced editors. Would you consider adding links to those subpages? Also, it might be a good idea to announce this vote at Goings-on and Wikimedia Forum. Kind regards, Mathonius (talk) 12:24, 4 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mathonius, thank you, I will announce it wider. The offical landing page for voting is this one: Wikidata/Logo voting, especially unexperienced users should not access the subpages directly. --Denny Vrandečić (WMDE) (talk) 12:27, 4 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Oh, that looks good! :) Thanks, Mathonius (talk) 12:33, 4 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikisource grant and Wikidata

[edit]

Dear Denny, at Wikisource we are looking to improve some of our work processes and integration with Wikipedia and Commons, that is why we have started this grant application. Our goal is to define a vision that is possible to implement later on. For this reason, and since Wikidata is the way to approach some of our problems, I would like to ask you to take a look to to our application. If at some point we would need assistance from you guys, what is the best way to establish contact and who should we approach? --Micru (talk) 02:13, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Lydia Pintscher is the right person to talk to. Good luck! --Denny Vrandečić (WMDE) (talk) 09:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Denny, we'll do our best!--Micru (talk) 03:59, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
