Request for Review – Concern about unfair treatment and block

[edit]

Dear @Faendalimas

I hope you’re doing well. I’m reaching out with full respect and transparency to ask for your help in reviewing an issue I’ve recently faced on the English Wikipedia.

I’m an active contributor working to translate notable Arabic content into English, while strictly following Wikipedia’s guidelines and community policies. I try to contribute meaningfully, always assuming good faith, and I’m quick to respond to feedback or make corrections when needed.

However, a user recently left a message on my talk page with several false accusations, including claims that the articles I translated don’t exist in Arabic Wikipedia, and that I have a conflict of interest. I responded politely and provided clear proof with links and sources showing the original Arabic articles. Despite this, they continued to accuse me unfairly.

Soon after, this user deleted all the articles I translated—even though they were based on verifiable, existing content—and in my view, this goes against several principles, including: • Failure to assume good faith, • Misuse of authority in a non-constructive way, • Disruption of editorial work.

When I submitted a complaint, I was disappointed to find that multiple editors joined the discussion, attacking me personally instead of discussing the issue objectively. Not a single one of them focused on improving the encyclopedia or mentioned the public interest. Strangely, I was the one who ended up blocked.

As a non-native English speaker, I use language tools to assist me with translation, but my goal has always been to accurately represent Arabic content in English, while respecting community standards.

I’m kindly asking you to take a look at: • My contribution history • My user talk page

You will find that I’ve acted in good faith throughout, and responded respectfully to all concerns. I’m not asking for anything unfair—I just want to continue contributing to Wikipedia in a positive way, without being targeted or silenced.

Thank you for your time and understanding. علي بدر العتيبي (talk) 01:01, 30 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
