COVID-19 এর পরিবর্তিত পরিস্থিতিতে ভারতীয় স্বেচ্ছাসেবীদের সহযোগীতা জন্য সমর্থন কর্মসূচি

প্রিয় উইকিমিডিয়ানস,

COVID-19-এর দ্বিতীয় তরঙ্গ সারা দেশে পরিবর্তিত পরিস্থিতির কারণে আমরা সকলেই খুব কঠিন সময়ে মধ্যে দিয়ে চলেছি। তিক্ত এবং কঠোর সত্য যে আমরা অনেকেই ইতিমধ্যে আমাদের প্রিয়জন, ঘনিষ্ঠ বন্ধু, আত্মীয়স্বজন, প্রতিবেশীদের হারিয়ে ফেলেছি। আমাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ চাকরিহীন, ব্যবসায় ক্ষয়ক্ষতি, হাসপাতালে ভর্তির বিশাল ব্যয় ইত্যাদির কারণে অর্থনৈতিক সমস্যার মুখোমুখি হয়েছেন অথবা হচ্ছেন।

এই সঙ্কটের মাঝে ভারতে বসবাসকারী উইকিমিডিয়া স্বেচ্ছাসেবকদের সহযোগীতা জন্য একটি সমর্থন কর্মসূচি শুরু করা হয়েছে। এই প্রোগ্রামটি নিম্নলিখিত কর্ম্ম সমর্থন করবে -

• টিকাকরণের ব্যয় সরূপ অর্থ প্রদান
• COVID-19 সুরক্ষা কিট প্রেরণ
• বিশেষজ্ঞদের পরামর্শদান

এই সমর্থনটি সেন্টার ফর ইন্টারনেট অ্যাণ্ড সোসাইটি অ্যাসেস টু নলেজ (CIS-A2K) পক্ষে থেকে প্রদান করা হবে। আজ অথবা আগামীকাল থেকে এই টিকাকরণের ব্যয় সরূপ অর্থ প্রদান করা হবে। COVID-19 সুরক্ষা কিট প্রদান বিভিন্ন যৌক্তিক কারণসমূহ উপর নির্ভর করে, তাই এই প্রেরণ পদ্ধতি এক সপ্তাহ বা তার বেশি সময়ের মধ্যে আরও সুসংহত হবে। দলটি প্রথমে সম্প্রদায়ের যাদের এই সাহায্য সব থেকে প্রথমে প্রয়োজন তাদের সমর্থন করার চেষ্টা করবে।

West Bengal Wikimedians User Group held its 2024 Annual General Meeting yesterday

Hello Sourabh.biswas003!

We are sending you this message as you have signed up as a general member of the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group. We would like to inform you that the user group has organized its 2024 Annual General Meeting of Representative Members yesterday at the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Kolkata. In this meeting, we have adopted revised bylaws based on the feedback and suggestions coming from our members (see changes) and selected 10 new Representative Members based on the objective criteria set in the bylaws with regards to their recent or overall online and offline contributions. A new Representative Committee has also been formed while replacing 3 out of 5 members, who have completed their full term tenure for this responsibility. The participants have also shared learning from the projects taken from previous year and shared plans about new projects which they are willing to take during this year on behalf of the user group. We are also introducing a mentorship program from this year, where willing general members can work together with our program leads in user group programs and learn from each other. So, stay tuned for more excitements!

Images for the Commons

Are you aware that you tend to upload images for the Commons in categories that have already a great number of images, i.e. Belfast (which has thousands representing its complex history), and Edinburgh most recently. Not that this is necessarily bad. I am trying to understand the functioning of the Commons and how it is going to deal with these issues in the future. There are certain countries, cities, points of interest, etc. that are very over represented while other countries and their places are ignored. I guess this is human nature. Hi Krok6kola,

Thanks for pointing that out, and for taking the time to reflect on how Commons works more generally.

You’re right that a lot of my uploads are from places like Belfast and, more recently, Edinburgh. That’s mostly a reflection of where I’ve been able to take photos so far, rather than a deliberate choice to focus on already well-covered areas. I do think that even “overrepresented” places can still benefit from more diverse angles, seasons, and details – especially for educational use – but I completely agree with you that there’s a big imbalance globally.

I appreciate you raising the issue, and it’s something I’d like to keep in mind going forward. When I have the opportunity, I’d be happy to contribute more from underrepresented locations as well.
