Regarding 2001:16a2:c8a0:dc00::/64[edit]
You globally blocked this one for two weeks on 2023-01-02, but the block may need to be widened at some point. They have been on 2001:16a2:c800::/40 (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log • GUC • CA) since March 2021, and they have access to the entire range. They first began by disrupting arwiki, before expanding it further to commons, enwiki, wikidata, simplewiki, wiktionary etc. Most edits have been reverted, and it looks to be almost entirely this person on the range. They act like they're a new user (e.g. using summaries like "where is the teahouse?", whilst blanking pages), but this is clearly a case of long-term abuse accross multiple wikis. They have recently started to target small wikis with few (or no) active local sysops. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 04:46, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Mako001: I'm not sure about globally blocking 2001:16a2:c800::/40 xwiki-contribs • ST • IP info • WHOIS • robtex • gblock • glist • abuselog • bullseye due to possible collateral damage. For now, the global block on 2001:16a2:c8a0:dc00::/64 xwiki-contribs • ST • IP info • WHOIS • robtex • gblock • glist • abuselog • bullseye seems to have managed it. If that vandal comes back, or you think a global block on a wider range is necessary, you may file a request on SRG, and a steward, possibly myself, will review it. Thanks for reporting. Best regards, --Elton (talk) 14:42, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- While you're here, could you take a look at whether it would be worth gblocking 2600:100D:B100:0:0:0:0:0/40 xwiki-contribs • ST • IP info • WHOIS • robtex • gblock • glist • abuselog • bullseye? Long term cross wiki abuse. Also has a similar ability to rangehop. They switched from one /44 to another a few hours ago, and has been on 3 separate /44s in the last 24 hours. The /40 was locally blocked for 1 year on en.wiki (after about 10 prior blocks ranging from 1 week to 3 months), but that seems to have just pushed them onto everywhere else, and they're now messing about with smaller wikis. The account Presidentduane1 xwiki-contribs • xwiki-date (alt) • ST • IP info • WHOIS • robtex • gblock • glist • abuselog • bullseye is also associated with this same person. HideButtonsFromNonGsProjects.js / vector-2022[edit]
Hello Elton,
Could your script HideButtonsFromNonGsProjects.js be updated to work with vector-2022? — xaosflux Talk 19:22, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: Sure. This should do the trick, though as of today the "buttons become red" part only works with MoreMenu. Please let me know if there are issues, and let me state this: any steward/interface admin should feel free to edit the script on my userspace (if it stays here) for improvements/bug fixes. Hope it helps. Best regards, — Elton (talk) 15:07, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Global block of 212.200.181.0/24[edit]
Hey, its me, Ivan VA from sr.wiki who has been blocked, now unblocked. I have seen the reason here. Writing you to tell you that that in fact wasnt me. Someone abused/hacked/w-e my ip adress and used it to abuse and write these messages. Saw it first time yesteraday when i saw i got blocked. Ivan VA (talk) 10:25, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Ivan VA: I have removed the global block on 212.200.181.0/24, so you should be able to edit. The local anon-only block (which does not affect you) here on Meta will not be removed, as that IP range has been used by LTAs/vandals for more than a year. Are you telling me you are the responsible for that network? — Elton (talk) 15:31, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Elton: Which network do you mean? Didnt understand you quite frankly. I didnt do any of the vandalizing. An admin from sr.wiki told me a user nicknamed Kolega 2345 used this/my IP to do this. Also after i talked to admins on sr.wiki they lifted that local editing ban for sr.wiki because they know me/know im not the vandal. So i dont know what network do you mean. --Ivan VA (talk) 20:36, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Ivan VA: I think I've misread your previous message. The network I was refering to was 212.200.181.0/24, which is currently blocked on a few projects and has at least one device compromised with malware turning it into a proxy (possibly a P2P proxy). It includes but is not limited to your current IP address (assuming you connect through that network). I was aware of Velimir Ivanovic/Kolega2357, but I'm not familiar enough with the case to determine wether a user (who is not causing obvious vandalism/disruption) is or not a sockpuppet of the banned user. I do think you are a good faith user after all. Sorry for any trouble. — Elton (talk) 00:57, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
